On Saturday, we hosted the Senior Career in Banking & Technology event in London. A room full of professionals across industries, and graduates ready to upgrade, all there for the same reason - to hear what it really takes to grow at the highest levels in banking and technology.
Massive thank you to our guest speaker Vanessa Yiu - CTO for Group Technology Infrastructure at Deutsche Bank for the time, the honesty, and the wisdom she brought into the room. Hearing her speak so candidly about her own career journey, and what itโs taken to get to where she is, gave our attendees the honest perspective theyโd been looking for. Vanessa spoke about the importance of deep technical expertise, adaptability, and problem-solving in a landscape being reshaped by AI - not staying in your comfort zone, but focusing on outcomes and continuous learning.
She also spoke openly about the realities of being a woman in tech, staying authentic and focusing on what you can control rather than what you canโt. That landed with so many people in the room.
The Q&A could have gone on for hours. Graduates asking how to stand out, professionals asking how to pursue growth opportunities, and where banking technology is heading next. Vanessa answered every question with warmth and clarity, and made space for people to walk away with real answers, not just inspiration.
