🔧 How to access & test the heating element of a Miele washing machine

If your washer isn't heating, here's a quick way to get to the element and test it
First: unplug the machine and turn off water supply
1 Remove the lower front panel
- On most Miele models, this is behind the kick strip at the bottom
- Pop it off or undo the Torx screws
2 Locate the heating element
- It sits at the bottom of the drum housing
- You'll see two terminals + an earth wire
3 Disconnect the wires
- Take a photo first so you remember placement
4 Test with a multimeter
- Set to resistance (52)
- Measure across the two terminals
V Expected reading (240V units): ~25-35 S
X No reading (open circuit) = blown element
X Very low reading = shorted element
5 Optional check
- Test between each terminal and the metal body
→ Should be no continuity (otherwise it's leaking to earth)
Tip: If resistance is fine but no heat, check the NTC sensor
or wiring next.
