Implement cost price increases with Amazon with confidence! 💸

As an Amazon vendor, it's inevitable that you will need to increase your costs to maintain your margin and/or ensure price alignment across channels. When communicating price increases to Amazon, stick with your proposed increase throughout the discussion.

It is needed to maintain your profitability.

🔴Do not negotiate on the increase communicated, you are only impacting your bottom line.
🔴On the flip side don't be tempted to push through a price increase on Amazon for the sake of it. Your Net PPM will suffer and this will end up costing you more in the long run.

Amazon is very different to a traditional retail and wholesale account. Operationally they are complex, whether it's product labelling, multiple shipping locations, erratic orders, or the sheer size of the catalogue.

Commercially, the emphasis is on you as the vendor/brand owner to create momentum on your products and build a sustainable and profitable long-term business. Amazon will not do this for you.

So Amazon's Prime Video are implementing ads from early next year, and users will need to pay in order to opt out of being served ads.

We're unlikely to see subscription increases in 2024, but Prime Video users can avoid ads by paying extra. The opt out option will exclude live events (sports) where ads will continue.

The additional cost is around £2.50 in the UK. Hardly unexpected given the growth coming from Amazon Ads. Although interesting timing with the cost of living crisis - we wonder what impact this will have on Prime subscriber numbers...
