Who you hire becomes part of your reputation.

When someone joins your team, they’re not just filling a vacancy. They’re speaking to your clients, representing your standards and becoming a reflection of your business.

That’s why Adam believes a vacancy doesn’t always need to be filled immediately. If the right person isn’t there, sometimes the better business decision is to keep looking.

Hiring quickly might solve an immediate problem. Hiring carefully can protect what you’ve spent years building.

A Simple Idea That Could Make a Big Difference

Another productive audit with one of our medical surgery clients, achieving 100% document compliance and, importantly, seeing those arrangements working in practice.

During the visit, Kellie showed us an Evacuation Grab Bag she recently introduced. It keeps essential items together and ready to go, helping the team manage an evacuation in a more organised and efficient way.

It’s a simple, practical measure, but in an emergency, being prepared matters.

Well done to Kellie and the team for a great audit and for continuing to look at practical ways to improve emergency preparedness.

Just because it’s the weekend doesn’t mean we stop pushing.

Strategy meeting with the team today, looking at the next phase for the Hospitality Group.

Plenty happening across our venues, with a clear focus on strengthening each concept, raising standards and making sure we’re building something sustainable for the long term.

Good businesses don’t stand still. Keep reviewing. Keep improving. Keep pushing forward.

Recruitment is one of the biggest risks you take when growing a business.

Over the years, Adam has experienced both sides of it. Great hires who have helped the business grow, people who weren't the right fit, and good employees who eventually moved on.

With a team of around 35 people today, one thing is clear: getting recruitment right isn't easy.

It can be challenging, costly and sometimes unpredictable, but when you find the right people, it can also be one of the most rewarding parts of building a business.

Getting Recruitment Right Means Knowing Who You’re Hiring

For Adam, recruitment is about building a clear picture of a candidate before making an offer.

At AW Safety, that starts with defining the role properly, followed by an informal conversation, structured interviews and DISC profiling to better understand personality, communication style and team fit.

It’s a process we’ve refined over time, and one that has helped us bring some great people into the business.

Because recruitment isn’t simply about finding someone who can do the job. It’s about finding someone who can grow with the team and the business.

Supporting Our Clients Across Central London

Another productive visit to several Orega (Management) Ltd sites across central London, completing updated Fire Risk Assessments and Annual Health & Safety Audits.

Regular reviews are an important part of ensuring standards are maintained, risks are properly managed and health and safety arrangements continue to reflect how each workplace operates.

As one of our long-standing clients, we're proud to continue working closely with the Orega team and supporting their commitment to safe, well-managed workplaces across their London locations.

Hiring the right people can make a huge difference to a growing business. For Adam, one of the biggest lessons has been the importance of having a clear, structured recruitment process, starting with knowing exactly who and what the business needs.

Get the role right. Get the process right. Give yourself a better chance of getting the person right.

Fire Safety Done Well at Lloyds Motor Group

A positive Fire Risk Assessment Review at Lloyds Motor Group in Ripon, where good preparation and consistent fire safety management were clear to see.

Compliance documentation was readily available, in-house checks were being completed, and servicing and maintenance arrangements were firmly in place.

Regular Fire Risk Assessment reviews are important because workplaces, equipment and working practices can change over time. Reviewing these arrangements helps businesses identify any new risks and ensure existing fire safety measures remain effective.

A special mention to Peter and Arlene for their involvement throughout the review and their continued commitment to maintaining high standards.

A great example of how good systems, regular checks and consistent action support effective fire safety.

Preparing for Winter Starts at the End of Harvest

As harvest comes to an end, now is the time to give machinery the attention it needs before winter storage.

Removing crop residue, dust and chaff, checking for defects, completing servicing and considering potential pest damage can help reduce fire risks, prevent costly repairs and make sure equipment is ready when the next season begins.

And a special Golden Combine Award goes to one of our customers who took good housekeeping to another level. Their combine was so meticulously cleaned it looked almost showroom-ready.

A great example of how a little extra time spent on maintenance and housekeeping now can make a real difference later.

Clean it. Check it. Maintain it. Store it safely.

Supporting a Proactive Approach to Health & Safety

A productive visit with the team at Hughes Electrical, reviewing their current health and safety management arrangements and discussing how these are managed across the business.

It was also useful to see their Xoralia online portal in action, providing a central place for policies, risk assessments and safe systems of work.

During the visit, we identified that their Fire Risk Assessment is due for renewal, so a referral has now been made for AW Safety to support them with the next steps.

A great example of how regular reviews can help businesses stay on top of their responsibilities and identify what needs attention before it becomes an issue.

Thank you to the Hughes Electrical team for the warm welcome and positive approach. We look forward to continuing to work together.
