Nairn BID manager Lucy attended a gathering in Strathpeffer this week where local creatives and artists were invited to share their ideas and ambitions for the Inverness-Highland bid for UK City of Culture 2029.

Lucy was of course there to represent Nairn and talk about what our fantastic town can add to the tremendous bid:

Dozens of artists and creators from across the Highlands have gathered at Strathpeffer Pavilion to share their ideas and ambitions for the Inverness-Highland bid for UK City of Culture 2029. And Nairn Bid manager Lucy Harding was there to promote everything that goes on in our seaside town of Nairn....

Several businesses joined us at the Bandstand Bar & Restaurant for a business breakfast where we celebrated Scotland Loves Local Week.
To keep with the ethos of shouting about "shop local" all attendees were encouraged to share information about their own business, but then give a big shout out, to another local business they recommend.

So many local businesses were given a name check including: The Highland Weigh, Vitamin Sea Nairn Gift Shop & Printing, Sauna Ostara, Highland Yoga Collective, Swanson's Nairn, B. Clark & Son Butchers Nairn, Brackla Farm Free Range Eggs, The Flower Shop Nairn, Crafty Wee Birdie Gift Shop, Ritson Young, St Ninian House, Treatment rooms.

There was some great mingling and a lovely breakfast provided by the Bandstand team - a huge thanks to them.

As part of our celebrations for Scotland Loves Local Week, we’re inviting all members to come together for a relaxed, energising Business Breakfast — with a fun twist! We’re making this brekkie meet up lively, interactive and all about championing each other.

Each attending business will have one minute to:
• Introduce and shout about your own business
• Give a quick recommendation to another brilliant local business you love or work with.

It’s a quick way to strengthen connections, spark collaborations and celebrate the incredible network we have here in Nairn.

The talk of the town when board member Marie and BID publicity/events person Claire visited a few businesses yesterday was tidiness and weeds. This came as no surprise to them as it's one of things the BID is contacted about regularly. Please be assured, that the team, including BID chair Karen are on the case and are working hard to lobby Highland Council to get them to keep our town clean and tidy.

You can read a write up about the walkabout below.

There will be another walkabout next month, but if you can't wait till then, feel free to pop into the office at the Nairn Community & Arts Centre, call Lucy on 07707 873534 or email [email protected]
