Is your website actually working for you, or are you quietly working around it?

If your site was built more than three years ago, chances are it's still sitting on Squarespace's old 7.0 platform. It did the job well in its day, but everything new now lands on 7.1, and a legacy site slowly starts to hold you back without you really noticing.

I've just written a piece walking through what a proper redesign actually changes. The move to Fluid Engine and the creative freedom that comes with it. Building genuinely for mobile rather than squashing the desktop version down. Tidying up your payments so you're not bouncing between three different dashboards. And, the bit most people worry about, protecting your SEO through the migration so you don't lose the Google ranking you've worked hard for.

As a Squarespace Gold Circle Member, that last part is where I spend a lot of my time: getting people onto the new platform without breaking anything along the way.

One year ago I took a leap and opened Curious Pixels in Nairn. Today I just want to say thank you.

To every client who trusted me with their brand, their website, their social media, their photography or their video. To everyone who referred me to a friend or a fellow business owner. To everyone who has something in the pipeline. You are the reason this exists.

Nairn now has a full service creative studio on its doorstep. Branding, web design, social media, photography, drone and video, all from one person with no handoffs and no agency layers. That feels like something worth shouting about.
