Soil Nutrient Health Scheme Workshops Update.

We're delighted to share the success of our recent workshop! Last night, participants gathered for an informative session, completing the online training well ahead of schedule. While some felt the online course inundated them with information, the three-hour workshop provided a valuable platform for personalised questions and discussions.
Attendees unanimously agreed that amidst current challenges like stretched cash-flows and the incessant inclement weather, these workshops offer practical insights to optimise their on-farm resources to increase efficiency.
All you need is your laptop, iPad, or Android device to join us. Reach out, and we'll guide you through registration and training completion.
With limited availability for next week’s session, don't miss out on this opportunity to enhance your understanding and application of soil nutrient management.
Plus, follow our page for upcoming workshop series in the pipeline.

Another successful workshop for the Soil Nutrient Health Scheme took place on Wednesday night, with attendees receiving their necessary certificates by the end of the evening.
Again, there were lots of questions asked during the workshop, with everyone agreeing that it will help their understanding of the soil analysis results they received.
The next two Wednesday nights are fully booked, with places available to book from Wednesday 10th April.

Workshop Update!

Last night marked the kick-off of our much-anticipated series of workshops for the online SNHS training, and what a fantastic start it was!

Held at the local community centre, our first workshop brought together a diverse group of farmers and led to many creating varied and interesting discussions throughout the evening.

Whilst the content of the course is informative, it can sometimes be a little tedious, but having everyone together encouraged us to share our knowledge and experience, with many asking questions about aspects they didn’t fully understand.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Everyone successfully completed the course and received their certificates via email by the end of the night. Receipt of these certificates is essential as the following statement is at the bottom of the letter you received from AFBI with your Soil Analysis:

“Participation in the SNHS is a condition for the receipt of the new Farm Sustainability and Farming with Nature Payments, this requires both registering for SNHS and completing the training being offered by CAFRE. Failure to complete both elements may affect your future payments.”

These workshops are set to continue every Wednesday night over the next few weeks, offering ample opportunities for learning, networking, and growth. To secure your place, reach out to our advisor Tony Bell at 07767271764.

Let's continue to cultivate knowledge and empower our farming community together!

🌾 As we navigate through the challenges of winter weather, many of us have seized the opportunity to begin applying slurry to our fields. It's essential to adhere to the maximum application rates of 4500 gallons per hectare (2700 gallons per acre) and be mindful of increased buffer zones this February.

🌱 Some crops may appear backward after a tough winter, prompting us to evaluate our options moving forward. Wheat with plant populations of 90 per square metre and winter barley with 140 plants per square metre remain viable with proper management.

📊 Take the time to assess fields and plan your nutrition strategy accordingly. Good management practices now will undoubtedly yield rewards come harvest time.

❄️ Following the upcoming cold spell, prioritise desiccating fields for spring cropping promptly.

For tailored advice, discussions about your options and chemical supplies, reach out to our agronomist Tony at 07767271764.

Let's work together to ensure a fruitful season ahead! 🚜

Happy New Year, everyone! 🎉

As we step into the fresh canvas of 2024, we're delighted to embrace a new chapter of opportunities and growth. January has graced us with a welcome spell of dry weather, and the forecast hints at more promising days ahead. 🌤️

Amidst the brisk air and renewed energy, it's time to kickstart the year on a productive note. If you haven't already, it's crucial to update all nutrient import/export details with the NIEA this month. Your attention to this matter is highly appreciated and will ensure a seamless transition for our agricultural endeavours.

For those of you holding SNHS records from the past year, consider them your invaluable companions as you plan your nutrient calculations for the future. Harness the insights gained and pave the way for a successful and bountiful year ahead. 🌾

January, being the opportune month, beckons us to delve into soil analysis. Whether you have existing fields or have recently acquired new land, it's paramount to understand the soil dynamics. If your new land lacks test results or they're not readily available, connect with us promptly. Let's conduct a thorough soil analysis to equip you with the knowledge needed for optimal crop management. 🌱

Take a stroll through your fields at the earliest opportunity. Observe and note any areas displaying advanced growth or potential constraints. Your keen observations are key to nurturing a thriving harvest. Remember, we're here to lend a helping hand in every way possible, so don't hesitate to reach out. Together, let's make 2024 a year of agricultural excellence! 🌾✨

Wishing you all a prosperous and joy-filled New Year! 🌟🌾

UPDATE on the SOIL NUTRIENT HEALTH SCHEME and TRAINING OPPORTUNITY

Recently, some of you would have received what we hope is the final correspondence regarding the Soil Nutrient Health Scheme. This included the Organic Matter results, consolidating all previously shared data.

Understanding that interpreting this information can be challenging for some, we want to offer support and guidance.
For those unaware, completion of the SNHS training is now a prerequisite to access funding in the coming years.
The essential training can be accessed directly via this link: https://www.cafre.ac.uk/business-support/agriculture/environment/soil-nutrient-health-scheme/

At NI Farming Ltd, we highly recommend your participation in this online training at your earliest convenience. Even if you're well-versed in the subject, it serves as a valuable refresher. Our team is here to assist you throughout the process.

Considering the recent weather conditions impacting soil nutrient reserves, we encourage you to use the upcoming weeks to plan for 2024. Strategize on how to manage your nutrient requirements efficiently and make the most of on-farm organic manures. This may involve exploring different applications for fields that may have indicated low indices in your analysis.

For further assistance or clarifications, please do not hesitate to contact us. Together, let's ensure the continued success and sustainability of your farming practices.
