Here’s something I’ve noticed in myself and in the ambitious women I work with:

We’re not short on vision.
We’re not lacking in talent.
And we’re definitely not lazy.

But we are busy.

And sometimes, that busyness hides something deeper:

FEAR.

Fear that the idea won’t work.
Fear we’re not good enough.
Fear that everyone else is already doing it.
Fear that at this stage in life… it’s too late to begin.

Here’s what I’ve learned (and keep re-learning):

It’s not confidence or time that we need.
It’s courage.

Courage to:
- Start messy
- Start unsure
- Start small

Just start.

Because the only real difference between who you are now and the woman living the life you dream about...Is action.

Research shows that women who receive mentoring are 5x more likely to be promoted (Gartner & Capital Analytics study - HBR) but only 1 in 4 women report having access to a mentor (McKinsey & LeanIn.org, Women in the Workplace 2023) and the gap is wider for women over 45 starting businesses or shifting careers.
