Damn, the last few weeks have been hectic with news about data breaches eh?

First the supermarket suppliers, resulting in bare shelves; then in gaming we've had Valve's Steam databreach of 89 million user account details, then a data breach related to the MoJ of a suggested 2.1 million pieces of personal data.

All of these, at least initially, appear to be the result of third party suppliers to these big names. So, even if you aren't the "big fish" in your industry you could very easily also be attacked. Its more important now than ever before to make sure you are doing everything you can to be secure.

A great way to establish the fundamentals needed to stay as safe as possible is through ISO 27001 the management system for Information Security.

If anyone wants to know more about ISO, we provide straightforward commentary to guide people towards compliance. drop us a message or check out our website and our blog posts here: www.isoconsultants.uk

The Construction Industry has quite the significant environmental footprint at times. Managing that footprint is becoming more important as we look to the future and we reckon that implementing ISO 14001 will help companies manage their environmental impact and responsibilities, efficiently.

Its not just about reducing waste on-site and managing your compliance, its also about building trust with your stakeholders; this certification can be a competitive advantage.

Our latest blog looks at how ISO 14001 relates to the construction and architectural industries and how to go about implementing it. Check it out here: www.ISOConsultants.uk/iso14001-in-construction-and-architecture-industries/

The sun is shining, we’re getting into the kind of weather where its arguably pretty fun to work outside. This got me thinking about our climate and also got me thinking about the construction and architectural industries within the UK.

Over the years, we’ve heard a few people ask - Whats the point in them keeping ISO certification?

Times could be uncertain for you; many industries are looking at rising costs of doing business and less profit margins, leading to financial uncertainty. In those times having the extra cost and labour of maintaining your ISO certification might seem like an extra burden. But the truth is, these certifications bring major benefits that go beyond “just compliance”.

In highly competitive markets, not only do you need to keep up with your competitors, you ideally need to stand out from the crowd. A good way of doing that is maintaining your approval.

In our latest blog we’ve highlighted this along with a few other great reasons for keeping it. Have a read here: www.ISOConsultants.uk/point-of-keeping-iso-certificate/

In a time of global uncertainty, financial turmoil and growing mistrust, why should you maintain your ISO management Systems, like ISO 9001 for Quality Management, ISO 14001 for Environmental Management, ISO 45001 for Health and Safety Management or ISO 27001 for Data and Information Security?

Is risk management a common thread across ISO standards?

ISO’s may vary in scope, but quite a few have a principle that’s remained constant; this is the need for effective risk management. Whether it's ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 27001 (Information Security), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety), or ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), each framework emphasizes identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks.

Why does this matter?
A strong approach to risk management can ensure compliance; it enhances decision making and can also protect your business from unforeseen disruptions.
Understanding the differences between the standards can help you meet requirements consistently and efficiently and maybe even explore the idea of integrating them together.

Read more about how risk management weaves through multiple ISO standards in our latest blog: www.isoconsultants.uk/risk-management-across-different-iso-standards/

Risk management is a big aspect of many ISO management systems. it’s core principle and even has its own dedicated standard – ISO 31000 (2018). ISO 31000 provides principles and guidelines for managing risk across your entire business and looks at how you identify, analyse, evaluate, treat, moni...
