I received this lovely message from Fermanagh and Omagh Women’s Aid after donating some pampering gifts from two of my clients, Caoimhe and Helen.

While organising Caoimhe’s dressing table and make-up, she kindly set aside some items to donate. A few weeks later, Helen’s seven-year-old daughter, Fiadh, overheard me saying that unopened toiletries and make-up samples are always welcome at the women’s refuge and asked her mum to buy some treats for the children too. Thank you, Fiadh!

Many women arrive at the refuge with very little, so a small pampering gift can really brighten their day. If you’re having an autumn clear-out, please don’t leave unopened toiletries or unused samples sitting in a drawer. Consider passing them on to your local Women’s Aid instead. 🙏

It’s June, and while organising an office today, we found a Christmas card with money still inside it. The funny thing is, this isn’t the first time.

Over the years we’ve uncovered out-of-date cheques, expired gift vouchers, unopened letters, duplicate purchases, forgotten subscriptions (this is huge), warranty documents that could have been useful, and even cash tucked away in unexpected places.

It’s never really about the money or the items themselves. More often, it’s a sign that things have become so busy or overwhelming that important things get lost in the shuffle.

Even the most well-designed spaces can feel frustrating when they’re not set up to work.

Before, this utility room had the potential, but not the structure.
Now, everything has a place. It’s intuitive, easy to maintain, and designed to support everyday life.

I love hearing the words “I was looking for that” and “Oh I forgot I had that” and I hear this during each session with clients.

This week, one client said it 12 times in one session. One or two really important items and the rest were things she had rebought because she couldn’t find them or didn’t know she had them. But the real joy was when she found 2 sentimental items she thought were lost. We displayed both where she could see them and enjoy them again every day.
