Positivity doesn’t just open doors. ✨

It can bring a helping hand when you need it, create unexpected opportunities, lead to new friendships, and introduce you to people who teach you something valuable.

When you approach life with openness, kindness and curiosity, people often respond to that energy. One conversation can become support. One meeting can become an opportunity. One new person can become a friend, a mentor, or simply someone who helps you see life differently.

Positivity doesn’t mean ignoring difficulties. It means staying open enough to notice the good, the lessons and the people that may appear along the way.

Sometimes the biggest opportunities begin with something very small — a smile, a conversation, or simply saying hello. 🌍✨

Piddington is becoming a powerful example of what happens when compassion, fear, safety and responsibility collide.

The Government proposes housing 1,256 male asylum seekers at a former military site near a village of around 350 people. Residents have protested, held a symbolic independence referendum, and raised concerns about safety, infrastructure and the scale of the proposal. Cherwell District Council has also formally objected, citing unresolved issues including access, flooding, wastewater and community impact.

Most human beings want to help others. But when people feel that their home, children, freedom or security may be threatened, another powerful human instinct appears: protection.

This is where conflict begins.

Not simply locals versus immigrants — but compassion versus fear, responsibility versus capacity, and national decisions versus the voices of the communities expected to live with them.

Real conflict resolution starts by listening to both the human need to help and the human need to feel safe.

Why salt pans? 🧂🌊

Because my work isn’t only about conflict — it’s about people.

Behind every place, tradition and craft, there are human stories. And understanding people means being curious about how we live, work, communicate, adapt and connect.

I love travelling, discovering cultures and having conversations that make us think, understand each other better and perhaps become a little calmer along the way.

So yes… expect people, travel, traditions, human connection and great conversations here. 🌍

I’ll probably bombard you with all of it. 😄

Privilege is not only about money. Sometimes privilege is simply knowing that you have choices.

I’ve seen people struggle because nobody ever showed them another way. They don’t know where to go, what support exists, or that they are allowed to make a different decision. Sometimes they are trapped by fear, family expectations, culture, religion, finances, or simply by not knowing what is possible.

That is why education, awareness and access to support matter so much.

I was speaking recently about leadership, and I keep coming back to the same thought: we need leaders who genuinely have people in their hearts. Leaders who think beyond power, image and their own pockets, and who ask, What do people actually need to live safer, stronger and more independent lives?

Real change starts when people are given knowledge, support and options.

Sometimes one piece of information can change someone’s whole direction.

For those who may not know him, Captain Krzysztof Baranowski is an extraordinary Polish sailor, writer and educator who, at the age of 88, is currently sailing solo around the world for the third time.

Today I had the incredible opportunity to spend time with him on board Meteor, the sailing boat that is carrying him on this remarkable journey around the world.

And what a privilege it was.

We talked, debated, laughed and spoke about his life, his adventures, leadership, human character and conflict. I had the chance not simply to interview him, but to sit with someone who has accumulated decades of experiences, challenges, successes and lessons — and to listen with a cup of coffe.

What impressed me most was his determination, strength of character and belief that character can be developed.

Captain Baranowski wants to continue creating opportunities for young people to learn through challenge, responsibility and experience — a true school of character.

And I genuinely believe this is something we need more of today.

Not only education that gives us knowledge, but experiences that teach us resilience, responsibility, self-awareness, courage and how to work with other human beings.

These are also qualities that matter deeply in conflict resolution. The more we understand ourselves — our reactions, strengths, weaknesses and character — the better equipped we are to understand others and navigate difficult situations.

I left Meteor feeling inspired, grateful and very fortunate to have had this time with Captain Baranowski.
