Dialogue - Independent SLT and Consultancy

Dialogue - Independent SLT and Consultancy Dialogue is an Independent Speech and Language Therapy Practice which offers assessment, therapy and consultancy and it is run by me, Lynsey Paterson!

Communication fascinates me as it is about how people relate to each other. Therefore, if you can improve or better understand a person’s communication style then often people’s relationships are strengthened. I have 15 years experience working in the NHS, education and voluntary sector. I have enjoyed working with people with a range of speech, language and communication needs and I have speciali

st skills in working with people with autism spectrum disorders and their families. My business, “Dialogue” is based in Perthshire and I would welcome enquiries from the surrounding area. The definition of “dialogue” is people exploring a situation or resolving an issue. Please contact me via private message or email if you think I might be able to help you explore or resolve a communication issue that is important to you. I am looking forward to getting to know you and sharing with you why I passionately believe that communication matters! The technical details:

A quick post to say I am sorry but Dialogue SLT is no more as I have decided not to renew my HCPC registration. It has been such a pleasure working with so many of you. Many thanks!

Today I’m going to tackle a slightly different sort of topic from usual, but one I often get asked about by other speech and language therapists. What are the pros and cons of working in independent practise? A bit of background before I start. Elizabeth and I both worked for the NHS for 10 years…

A spectrum is more than just a linear measure.

I hear alot of people misinterpreting or misusing the term ‘autism spectrum’. So for Autism Acceptance week, I decided to make a comic to help explain the term and how it affects things. Archie is one...

This is fascinating!! This is a map of how we store the meanings of words in our brain. We have always known that we have stored words in categories of similar meaning but now we can see how complex this is and that it is not located to just one part of the brain.

Using brain imaging, scientists have built a map displaying how words and their meanings are represented across different regions of the brain

I just have to share this! This is exactly how I see Autism - seeing it from the "inside- out". Behaviour ALWAYS happens for a reason (even if we can't see it or work it out). This is the approach I apply to working with all children. If you see life from their perspective you make therapy much more effective.
