If your business is still using an old-style analogue phone line, here's what's happening: Openreach says over 500,000 business lines haven't switched to the newer network yet. Prices on the old lines are set to rise from October 2026, and the whole network switches off for good on 31/01/2027, with no further delays planned.
It's easy to assume this only affects your phone, but fire alarms, burglar alarms, card payment terminals and lifts can all run over the same legacy lines, so it's worth checking what's actually connected before you plan the switch to VoIP.
We handle this kind of migration for clients regularly, happy to help you work out what needs moving and when.
