September is here and this is the month the Employment Rights Act 2025 stops being something to plan for and starts being something to act on.

From 1 October, employers can be held liable for harassment of staff by customers, clients or the public - and that's just four weeks away.

If you haven't checked where your business stands, now's the moment.

Our complimentary HR MOT covers exactly this, alongside everything else the Act's changed so far. Free, no obligation, under an hour.

We recently visited the team at Lennox Children's Cancer Fund's offices in Basildon to present them with a £1,250 cheque.

We are so pleased that the money has already funded a holiday and spending money for a family, giving them some precious time together during their child's cancer treatment.

Lennox has supported children with cancer and their families for nearly 35 years, offering emotional support, financial grants and free respite breaks, including stays at its two holiday homes in the UK. Its support doesn't stop when treatment ends, it continues into the "new normal" that follows after an incredibly difficult time.

“We are incredibly grateful to Legacy Strategies for their generous donation, which gave a local family the opportunity to enjoy a respite break, with spending money to make it extra special. Since their child’s cancer diagnosis, opportunities to step away from hospital appointments, treatment and the pressures that come with childhood cancer had been incredibly rare. This break gave them the chance to reconnect, make precious memories and simply enjoy being a family again.

When a business chooses to support Lennox, it means so much to us. It shows they believe in the work we do and, more importantly, helps us make a very real difference to families facing childhood cancer.” - Lindsey Bidwell, Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund

It was a privilege to spend time with the team and see the difference they make, every day, to families across Essex and beyond.

We recently visited Alex Gulland at Silverbirch Animal Therapy Farm in Leigh-on-Sea to present her with a £500 grant as our latest Community Champion.

Alex spent years working as a Creative Partner in the media industry but an interest in therapy never left her. After years of training and a lifelong love of horses, she became a qualified Person-Centred Mental Health Counsellor and Accredited Equine Therapist.

She now runs therapeutic sessions at Silverbirch, helping neurodiverse young people and adults build confidence and communication through their connection with horses. Referrals come through organisations including CAMHS and Red Balloon.
The facilities are brilliant and so many children and adults have benefited from them.

It was a genuine pleasure to see her work first-hand and hand over the grant in person. The £500, awarded through our Community Grant Programme as part of our 10 Years of Legacy campaign, will go towards Silverbirch's outdoor therapy room and Alex's ongoing training.

We’re bringing communities together, one step at a time.

Continuing our 10 Years of Legacy celebrations, we are proud to have supported Community RunFest Rayleigh this month with a £1,250 Legacy Strategies grant, helping make this fantastic community event possible.

It was brilliant to see so many people coming together to celebrate health, wellbeing and a strong community spirit:

🏅 172 runners took on the 5K
🏅 240 runners completed the 10K
🏅 Over 200 children and adults joined the family run

The event also raised an incredible £1,200 for Gold Geese, a local charity that provides practical and emotional support to families of children and young people affected by cancer.

Our Director, Sharron Clow, attended the event and presented the grant cheque. She witnessed first-hand the amazing impact that partnerships like this have within our local communities.

Tony Conti from Omnia Community, who organised the event said:

"The support from Legacy Strategies Funding has been instrumental in making Community RunFest Rayleigh a reality... their funding has contributed to an inspiring event that not only promotes physical activity but also strengthens local connections and leaves a lasting positive impact on our community."

We are so proud to play a small part in initiatives that bring people together, improve wellbeing and create a lasting impact across the community.

Here's to the next 10 years of supporting projects that make a real difference.

For Legacy Strategies, investing in the community is about so much more than funding projects, it's creating opportunities for people to connect, learn and thrive.

We were so pleased to get the opportunity to visit East Essex Hackspace and meet Tim Neobard, who gave us a really inciteful tour of the incredible community hub that has evolved over the years. From woodworking spaces and electronics to sewing, repair cafés and creative workshops, it's a truly fantastic place where people of all ages can develop new skills, build confidence and form lasting friendships.

As part of our 10 years of Legacy Community Grant Programme, we were proud to have donated funding to help launch a new Community Board Games Library and Games Club. The project will allow local people to come together for regular games sessions, whilst also giving families the opportunity to borrow games to enjoy at home.

Board games may seem simple, but they bring people together, they encourage conversation, strengthen relationships and help tackle social isolation in a fun, welcoming environment.

A huge thank you to Tim and all of the volunteers for showing us around and for the fantastic work you do every day to make such a positive difference across the local community.

We're proud to play a small part in supporting such an inspiring organisation and cannot wait to watch the centre grow. 💙
