When a traumatic incident occurs in the workplace, the response requires more than specialist cleaning. It demands professionalism, discretion and an understanding of the impact on those affected.

Trauma Clean 24 Seven was recently instructed by a construction company in Royston, Hertfordshire, to carry out specialist Death Scene Cleanup following a tragic incident at an active construction site.

Our experienced operatives attended to address the biological contamination, working in accordance with the site's health and safety requirements.

This case study highlights the importance of appointing trained specialists to manage the physical aftermath of a traumatic incident, allowing employers to focus on supporting their workforce and managing the wider situation.

Read our latest case study to learn more about the challenges, our approach and the outcome.

This World Mental Health Day, let’s remove the judgement.

A photograph of a property cannot tell you what someone has been going through. Neither can the view from their front door.

Behind the circumstances we encounter, there may be grief, isolation, mental health difficulties or experiences that someone finds hard to talk about. Everyone deserves dignity, privacy and understanding.

At Trauma Clean 24 Seven, we approach sensitive cleaning situations with compassion. We listen, explain the practical steps and treat people and their belongings with respect.

For someone who already feels overwhelmed, worrying about what others might think can make asking for help even harder. The language we use and the way we respond matter.

Whether you are a landlord, housing professional, family member or neighbour, start with a conversation rather than an assumption.

This World Mental Health Day, on 10 October, let’s make room for more understanding — in our communities, our workplaces and at every doorstep.

Less judgement. More understanding.

When does a normal cleaner become the wrong person for the job?

Most cleaning jobs can be safely handled by an experienced domestic or commercial cleaner. But when blood, bodily fluids, decomposition, needles, human waste or other potentially hazardous materials are involved, the situation can move beyond routine cleaning and into specialist hazard cleanup.

Our latest blog explains where that line sits, including:

☣️ When biological contamination requires specialist support
☣️ Why blood and bodily fluids need a different approach
☣️ When cleaning after a death becomes a specialist task
☣️ Why needles and sharps should never be treated as ordinary waste
☣️ How hoarding environments can become hazardous

Why visible cleaning does not always mean contamination has been fully removed

For landlords, property managers, councils, housing teams, facilities managers and businesses, knowing when to stop and call a specialist can help protect staff and ensure the affected environment is dealt with correctly.

Why do we sometimes remove more than people expect during a biohazard clean up?
Because contamination does not always stop at the surface.

Blood and bodily fluids can soak through carpet, underlay and into floorboards. They can pe*****te upholstered furniture, spread behind skirting, or affect plasterboard and other porous materials.

In these situations, cleaning the visible surface may not be enough.

Our Trauma Clean 24 Seven technicians assess how far contamination may have travelled and, where necessary, remove affected materials so the area can be properly cleaned and decontaminated.
This may include:
☣️ Carpet and underlay
☣️ Floorboards
☣️ Soft furnishings and furniture
☣️ Skirting and surrounding materials
☣️ Sections of plasterboard
☣️ Other porous materials that cannot be safely decontaminated

We do not remove materials unnecessarily. The aim is to deal with the contamination properly rather than leave a hidden biohazard behind.

A thorough bio hazard clean up means looking beyond what is immediately visible and treating the full affected area.

Hoarding Awareness Week

This week, we’re raising awareness of hoarding disorder and the importance of understanding, compassion and support.

Hoarding is more than clutter. It can affect a person’s safety, wellbeing and daily life, and it is often linked to emotional distress, trauma, anxiety or overwhelming life events.

At Trauma Clean 24 Seven, we approach every hoarding clean-up with care, discretion and respect. Our team works sensitively to help restore safe, liveable spaces without judgement.

Whether you are struggling yourself, supporting a loved one, or managing a property affected by hoarding, help is available.

One room. Several different risks.

In trauma and bio hazard clean up, the most obvious issue is not always the only one.
A room may appear to have one visible area of concern, yet the wider environment can present several hidden or less obvious risks that also need to be assessed properly.

These can include:
Blood and bodily fluids
Hidden sharps
Insect activity
Contaminated flooring
Persistent odour
Potentially affected personal belongings

This is why a professional trauma clean is about more than cleaning what can be seen at first glance.

Our Trauma Clean 24 Seven team assesses the full environment to help identify where contamination may have spread, what materials may be affected and what steps are needed to clean, decontaminate and remove waste safely.

In many cases, the hidden risks are the ones that matter most.

If you are dealing with a property where you are unsure of the level of contamination, specialist advice can help you make the right next decision.
