The Positive End of Life Networking Group is supporting The culture of Dying Matters week.
The national campaign, Dying Matters Awareness Week (5-11th May 2025), led by Hospice UK, is inviting everyone to have open and honest discussions about end of life experiences. This year’s theme, The Culture of Dying Matters, delves into the diverse ways communities across the UK discuss, navigate, and commemorate death and dying, while emphasising the shared emotions that connect us all in grief and loss.
The networking group will be holding various events in and around Salisbury during the week, including the monthly Death Cafe (first Friday of the month)
Friday 2nd -May - 10.30-11.30am at Salisbury Playhouse and an additional one on
Friday 9th May - 10.30-11.30am at Salisbury Hospice.
This is a space held by local celebrants for everyone to talk about anything related to death and dying, there is no set agenda.
There will also be 'Dying for a Cuppa’ events on:
Tuesday 6th May - 10.30 - 11.30am at Evergreen Cafe, Amesbury
Thursday 8th May - 10.30 - 11.30 at Weavers Cafe, Wilton,
where all are welcome, just turn up and have a chat. A warm smile and a friendly cuppa.
Salisbury Library will have a display with recommended books on this subject by Hospice UK and information about the events. Do take a look.
The Group's page will have details of all up and coming events: Positive End of Life Networking Group | Salisburyfacebook.com

Chris White, Senior Digital Marketing & Campaign Manager at Hospice UK, said:
“Talking about death and dying is never easy, but it’s vital. Honest and timely conversations can ensure that people get the support they need and help loved ones better understand their wishes.
“This Dying Matters Awareness Week, we’re focusing on the diverse cultural approaches to death and dying within the UK and how those perspectives can inspire more open, meaningful discussions in every community.
“We hope that by sharing and learning from these experiences, we can create a society where talking about death is less of a taboo and where everyone feels empowered to have these conversations.”
Events and activities are taking place across the UK to mark Dying Matters Awareness Week. For more information, or to find out how to host your own event, visit the Dying Matters website.

Dying Matters is Hospice UK’s flagship campaign. It aims to create an open culture that talks about death and where people feel able to listen and support people who are planning for end of life, those who are dying and bereaved people.
Hospice UK and Dying Matters believe that everyone, no matter who they are, where they are or why they are ill, should receive the best possible care at the end of their life.
