It is unfortunate that the word 'behaviour' has become associated with 'bad behaviour' that needs to be stopped.
Behaviour is so much more than that...it is everything that we say and do. This is why a behaviour analyst is an holistic practitioner who looks at everything about a person ..and everything about their environment.
Talking therapy is based on the idea that the mind controls behaviour so if the mind is worked with then the person will behave in a different way.
However, I believe that we should look at it the other way around....behaviour controls the mind. We all know that our actions affect how we feel....we feel better if we get up and do something, if we do something useful, if we have some exercise and so on....these things all make us feel differently and consequently have an effect on our minds.
Mindfullness is based on the idea that we clear our mind in order to be able to behave.
We immobilize ourselves by thinking something needs to be changed on our insides ...when actually if we look at changing our behaviours, our insides will follow.
