A lovely evening spent connecting with local independent health and wellbeing professionals at the recent Borders Independent Health Professionals Network.

The evening focused on relaxed discussion, networking, collaboration, and sharing ideas on how we can continue building stronger connections across the Scottish Borders.

Some key themes discussed included:
✨ Developing stronger referral pathways
✨ Increasing awareness of local independent services
✨ Peer support and shared learning opportunities
✨ Guest speaker sessions and business development topics
✨ Creating a digital business directory for local services
✨ Launching our new page to improve communication and signposting opportunities

We also discussed future guest speaker sessions, with a potential virtual session in August (TBC) focusing on consent, policies, and exit strategies.

We would love to hear from members and the wider community:

❓ What would you like to gain from the network?
❓ Are there any guest speaker topics you would love us to explore?
❓ Would you be interested in virtual sessions alongside in-person meetings?

🌿 Time for Two, Time for You🌿
Move Better • Feel Better • Live Better

When stiffness, rigidity, fatigue, or reduced balance start to make everyday movement feel exhausting and effortful, even simple tasks such as getting out of bed, standing up from a chair, turning, or walking around the home can become frustrating and overwhelming.

For carers and family members, supporting a loved one through these daily challenges can also feel physically and emotionally demanding, especially when worries about falls, confidence, and safe movement begin to grow.

This relaxed, supportive workshop is designed for both patients and carers, giving you time to learn, move, and feel supported together.

Suitable for people living with:
• Parkinson’s Disease (PD)
• Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
• Stroke
• Dementia
• Age-related mobility changes and frailty

During the session, we’ll cover:

✨ Practical movement advice
Simple strategies to support bed mobility, reduce stiffness and rigidity, improve sit-to-stand, and make everyday movement at home feel easier.

✨ Hands-on demonstrations
Learn movement preparation techniques, cueing, positioning, and safe moving and handling strategies to reduce effort and build confidence.

✨ Falls prevention tips
Understand common risks and take away realistic, easy-to-follow ways to stay safer at home.

✨ Time for you both
• 10-minute express massages for carers
• 10-minute physiotherapy mini-assessments with personalised advice

This workshop is about more than information — it’s about creating space to feel supported, empowered, and connected.

You’ll leave with:
✔ Practical skills you can use straight away
✔ Greater confidence with movement and support
✔ A sense of shared understanding — you’re not doing this alone

⭐️Borders Independent Health Professionals Network - May Meeting⭐️

Just a friendly reminder that our next Borders Independent Health Professionals Network meeting will take place on Tuesday 26th May from 7-9pm at the HomePhysio By Nicola Clinic, Unit 5 Tweedmill Business Park, Dunsdale Road, Selkirk, TD7 5DZ.

We would be delighted to welcome everyone for an informal evening of coffee and connection!

There will be no formal agenda this month — simply an opportunity to meet, chat, and connect with like-minded professionals in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

As many new members have recently joined the network, we thought it would be lovely to have a more social session where we can all get to know one another better and learn more about each other's services and areas of expertise.

We are currently sourcing future speakers and planning upcoming sessions, so this feels like a great opportunity to strengthen our professional connections and continue building this supportive network together.

As the network has grown significantly recently, we would really appreciate it if you could RSVP if you are planning to attend, just to help give us an idea of numbers for the evening.

We look forward to seeing you there!
