I am a business coach and my business SMART Support for Business was developed from my passion about supporting accountants throughout the UK to take the frustrations out of running their pra
ctice and maximise their potential. This enhances motivation and increases return on the investment they make in their people. I do this through business coaching and team development processes and am passionate about employee engagement and well-being. I was described once as something of a unicorn because I understand people through my knowledge of DiSC and psychology, I understand business through my Business & Management degree but combined with that I specifically understand how to run and effective and profitable accountancy practice. My passion has always been about the power of a team which is why when I studied for my degree in Business and Management, my specialist focus was around people and leadership including an independent research project into the motivation of individuals in a small business. It is also what led me to do my Masters in Psychology and study Emotional Intelligence. Fundamentally I get what makes people tick and how to get the best out of your people in your practice which I understand is something that accountants can struggle with. From working with accountancy practices for almost two decades, I have a strong understanding of the common frustrations such as feeling overwhelmed and working too many hours, for not enough return: with a team of people that aren't working as effectively as they could. As a result of the amount of time invested in their practice, often they miss out of the important family events, or spend little time with their partners or for just for themselves to relax.
