I’ve signed up to do something completely wild! Driving a tuk-tuk 1,200 kilometres across South India.

This March, I’ll be joining fifty phenomenal women (including my powerhouse of a sister .notjusttravel ) on the Sisterhood Rickshaw Rally 2026; driving from Chennai to Goa in what’s essentially a brightly coloured three-wheeled lawnmower with a blue tooth speaker.

Six days of driving, 1,200 kilometres and the absolute certainty that it will break down a lot!

We’ll finish in Goa on International Women’s Day, which feels exactly right.

This adventure isn’t just about the chaos and the challenge; it’s about standing up for women and girls in India who deserve safety, opportunity and dignity.

I’m deeply passionate about maternal physical and emotional health; and about empowering young women and girls to shape their own futures.

That’s why I’m proud to be part of this campaign to raise £150,000 to:
• build safe, weatherproof classrooms for children in Chennai
• provide training and vocational skills for young women to achieve economic independence
• support maternal health projects tackling anaemia and complications after childbirth

The trip is completely self-funded; so every penny raised goes directly to the causes that matter most.

If you’d like to help us make a difference, please donate here:

It’s going to be hot, chaotic and unforgettable; but every single breakdown and bumpy mile will help change lives.

I am looking for Women Aged 25 to 75 to complete a 3-minute survey and support my Psychology Masters!

Women’s wellbeing media suggests that as women age, they become more confident and optimistic, and I am researching whether this really is the case or are we being set up for unrealistic expectations?

All you will need to do is complete a short online questionnaire (approximately 3 minutes), it’s mostly tick boxes, completely anonymous and there is no need to provide extra personal details on your experiences.

The questionnaires use well-established psychological methods, and your responses are anonymous (no identifying data is collected), and you can stop or withdraw at any time.

If you are a woman aged 25 to 75, then I would love for you to take part and support a greater understanding of how life experiences relate to women’s well-being.

Survey link - https://forms.gle/eWcijH6iNqULFzjH7

I need about 200 people to complete this and so please share this widely with your networks and help me reach as many women as possible!

We’ve all had sleepless nights dreading a difficult conversation - whether it’s addressing an underperforming team member, resolving a client issue, or simply asking for more help at home. But what if these conversations didn’t have to feel so stressful?

In this guest blog, I'm sharing simple yet powerful strategies to help you approach tough conversations with confidence, clarity, and a positive mindset.

"When someone upsets you or under-delivers, it’s tempting to charge in all guns blazing. But starting a conversation when you’re still frustrated rarely leads to a good outcome. Instead, take a moment to regain your balance—write down your thoughts, vent to a trusted friend, or simply step away before responding. The difference this small shift makes is huge!"

Are you a childcare professional looking for a role that’s a little different?

I am really excited to be supporting The Working Mums Club. as they open their first Pop-Up at the Greenwich West Community & Arts Centre. Since November I have been busy creating policies, handbooks and processes to get them ready to hire their first employees.

We are now looking for five new Crèche & Early Years Team Members and if this sounds like the perfect role for you, then please get in touch!

About the role -

Location: Greenwich West Community & Arts Centre
Hours: Mondays & Tuesdays, 9am to 6pm (potential for more as they grow)
Salary: £15 per hour
Start date: 3rd March

We believe that childcare costs should not be a barrier to women returning to work. Our vision is to create community-led workspaces with flexible, affordable childcare, helping more women regain financial independence while balancing work and family life. By providing a supportive environment for both work and childcare, we aim to make returning to work more accessible, ensuring that maternity does not put women’s careers on hold.

Join Our Team

We are looking for qualified, caring, and energetic childcare professionals to join our team as Crèche & Early Years Practitioners in our supervised crèche alongside our co-working space for mums. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a growing initiative, supporting children aged 3 months to 5 years in a safe, engaging, and play-based learning environment.

If you are available immediately and have a Level 2 or 3 Childcare qualification and are passionate about early years development, play-based learning, and creating a nurturing space for children, we’d love to hear from you.

How to Apply

If this sounds like the perfect role for you, then please message me for a copy of the job description and send your CV and a short cover letter to [email protected] or view the role on Indeed (link in first comments).

Your cover letter should tell us why you are excited about our mission and why you are the best person for this role.

This role has a start date of 3rd March and we will be reviewing applications as they come in and so we advise that you apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

If you are not able to start on the 3rd March, then please follow The Working Mums Club and look out for future opportunities.

If you are a parent looking for flexible childcare within a co-working space then full details of the pop-up below and we would love to see you there!

Do you have to create a Safeguarding Policy but don't know where to start?

If you run children's activities or provide childcare safeguarding isn’t just a box to tick—it’s essential. A clear safeguarding policy keeps children safe, protects your business, and gives parents peace of mind.

Here’s how to get it right:

🔹 Know Your Legal Responsibilities – Read the latest Safeguarding Guidance and have a clear idea what you need to do to prevent issues and what to do if they do happen. A good place to start is "Working Together to Safeguard Children" which is updated regularly.

🔹 Identify Risks – Every children’s activity provider faces unique risks depending on the nature of their services. Think about the environment, team members and how you are interacting with children and complete a full risk assessment.

🔹 Define Who’s Responsible – Appoint a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and make sure everyone is trained and knows what to do if a concern is raised.

🔹 Make Reporting Simple – Have clear, no-jargon steps for recognising and reporting safeguarding concerns. You and your team should know exactly who to speak to and when to escalate concerns.

🔹 Keep It Up to Date – Safeguarding isn’t a ‘set it and forget it’ thing. Annual reviews, training, and updates keep your customers safe.

✨ Need a safeguarding policy that works for your business? I help children’s activity and childcare providers put simple, practical safeguarding policies in place.

New Neonatal Leave Rights for Parents – What Employers Need to Know

Having a baby in neonatal care is an incredibly challenging time for parents. Between medical worries and emotional stress, work should be the last thing on their minds.

On 6th April a new type of leave for new parents will be introduced which gives parents the time they need to be with their baby without additional pressure. This is in addition to maternity, paternity, or shared parental leave.

The new right allows eligible parents up to 12 weeks of neonatal leave and statutory Neonatal Care Pay if their baby is admitted to hospital for seven or more consecutive days within their first 28 days.

What Employers Should Do Now:

✅ Review and update family-friendly policies and handbooks to include neonatal leave.

✅ Ensure managers understand the new entitlements and how to support affected employees.

Do your policies need an early spring clean? Get in touch to find out how I can help you to get them revitalised, up to date, compliant and ready for 2025!

The Christmas Party Season has started! As a small business owner, you might be feeling a mix of dread and excitement for what the event will bring!

As an experienced HR Professional, I have seen my fair share of Christmas shenanigans and oh the stories I could (but am not allowed to) tell... but it doesn't have to be that way.

Here are a few things that business owners can do to minimise the risk of ending the night on a sour note...

🍸Do something different this year - Not everyone wants to spend the evening glued to a bar, so think beyond the standard booze-fuelled party. Take your team ice-skating, to play shuffleboard, wreath-making or to a Christmas Market. Ugly Christmas Jumpers optional...

🎅 Set the Tone Early - When you send the details round remind everyone of your company values and that they apply at the party too. There are ways of doing this without sounding like the fun police!

🎄 Fill their stomachs! Wow them with delicious food and offer mocktails, hot chocolate and lots of Christmas treats. For those who are drinking, make sure they are not doing so on empty stomachs.

🤶 Gather some elves - ask a few members of your team to keep an eye out for anyone who might feel uncomfortable and step in early if there’s an issue. Think of them as friendly helpers, not party poopers.

🚊 Make sure everyone can get home safely - avoid remote venues and arrange transport where possible.

💻 Don't forget your remote workers! - Get them involved in an online escape room, murder mystery or even an online pamper session

⚖️ Remember the new legal landscape - Under the Worker Protection Act, employers are expected to take reasonable steps to prevent harassment at work-related events – even if the issues come from third parties (like a plus-one or a supplier). Simple preventative measures can save you a headache later.

If things don't go to plan, then I can support with advice, investigations and formal meetings to give you peace of mind before Christmas that it is all in hand! 🕊️
