Not one, but two mortgage offers received today, one for a young couple buying their first home and another for a client remortgaging their residential home to a product with no Early Repayment Charges, giving them flexibility going forward.

Meanwhile I'm slowly starting to melt in the office. Looking forward to going somewhere cooler to watch England play later this evening!

Happy Monday everybody, hope you all had a good weekend.

For me it was another visit to Southampton Summer Sessions on Saturday to see Paul Weller and what a show that was. Then Sunday was about the family as we popped to The Grapes for a couple of hours to celebrate Father's Day.

This week is starting with an appointment with a client looking to remortgage an inherited property, after which I'll be checking a couple of mortgage offers which were issued on Friday.

Later in the week I'll be contacting clients who's current mortgage deals expire up to and including the end of December to see if we can secure new rates for them early.

Following the latest vote, 7 out of 9 members of the Monetary Policy Committee voted to leave Bank of England Base Rate unchanged, with 2 voting for an increase.

This follows a number of lenders reducing the interest rates across their mortgage product ranges in recent weeks.

The wall chart is up and kick off is today, but I can't help a complete lack of enthusiasm for this World Cup. Maybe it's the kick of times, maybe it's the host or maybe we have too much football and too many competitions now?

Perhaps it'll all change when England and Scotland actually play and the excitement will build.

Is anyone actually enthusiastic or simply not bothered about this World Cup?

Late yesterday I had an unpleasant message from a client of mine who had unfortunately been diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer.

Grateful for small mercies in cases like this we had a long discussion when they purchased their house nearly five years ago about protection and made sure that they had life insurance in place. They have already made a claim on their insurance which means that they are in a position to repay their mortgage in full, with an additional policy meaning they have a lump sum of nearly 2 years salary paid out to them so that they can focus on their treatment and hopeful recovery going forward.

I regularly hear from clients that they don't need insurance because they're healthy and never get ill but yesterday shows you never know what's around the corner.
