0% VAT on solar, batteries and heat pumps ends soon. ⏳

Right now, solar panels, home batteries and air source heat pumps installed in your home carry 0% VAT. That zero rate runs until 31 March 2027. From 1 April 2027 it goes back up to 5% (HMRC, VAT Notice 708/6).

Batteries count whether they're added to existing solar or fitted on their own to store cheaper off-peak electricity from the grid.

Installs take time to survey, design and book in, so if you're thinking about it, now's a good time to start. Conditions apply, and we'll confirm the VAT treatment in your quote.

Thinking about a heat pump? Plan it now, before the cold sets in – and let the government grant take £7,500 off the price. ❄️

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme gives property owners in England and Wales £7,500 towards an air source heat pump when you replace fossil fuel heating such as gas, oil, LPG or electric heating.

If your home is heated by oil or LPG and doesn't have a mains gas connection, there's an extra £1,500 available until March 2027 – that's £9,000 in total.

The best bit? You don't have to deal with the grant paperwork. Your MCS-certified installer applies for the grant on your behalf through Ofgem, and the grant comes straight off the price you pay – it's shown on your quote and invoice.

How it works:
1. Survey – your home is assessed and your installer confirms you're eligible
2. Grant application – your MCS-certified installer applies to Ofgem for you
3. Installation – your heat pump goes in, with the grant already taken off the price

Why now? Starting the process in autumn gives you time to plan the right system for your home, rather than rushing a replacement when an old boiler gives up in the middle of winter.

Good to know: you need to own the property, hybrid systems (a heat pump combined with a gas boiler) aren't eligible, and air-to-air heat pumps can get a £2,500 grant.
