University of Southampton Consulting Society The University of Southampton Consulting Society (USCS) aims to improve the knowledge and understanding of the consulting industry for our members.

Consulting is a diverse and highly sought after career, it provides you with the option to specialise in a certain area i.e. strategy, finance, technology and more. It provides you with the opportunity to flourish; if you possess the correct set of skills. To succeed in consulting, you need to be curious, analytical, think “out of the box” and handle pressure. However, don’t believe the illusion t

With the academic year coming to an end, the time has come for a new committee to run the consulting society. By becoming a member of the committee, you will gain a number of skills and have the opportunity to work with prestigious consulting firms, providing real value to your CV. Some committee members have secured internships at firms including Deloitte and Grant Thornton.

If you wish to join the committee, please include the position you wish to apply for, with a short answer explaining why you will be a good fit for the role. Send all applications to [email protected]

The following positions are available:

President: Managing the activities of the society, establishing relationships with sponsor firms’ and being lead contact, planning events.

2 x Co-Vice President: Working together with the President to ensure tasks are created, establishing relationships with sponsor firms’.

Secretary: Planning and keeping minutes in meetings, works closely with SUSU.

Finance Director: Preparing and controlling the budget for all planned events, creating financial estimations for proposal packs, securing sponsorship funds from sponsor firms’.

Marketing Director: Creating proposal packs, which will be sent off to sponsor firms’, promoting events through social media, collaborating with external societies and sponsors’. [Photoshop skills are a bonus]

DEADLINE TODAY! Reminder that if you want to be in the Fish on Toast committee for next year, you must apply by TODAY at 9pm.

Brief information about each role is here:
Co-President: Responsible for overseeing the entire processes within Fish on Toast, and creating new events such as conferences and competitions. During this role, you will network with multiple university societies to establish Fish on Toast as a long-lasting brand. There will also be smaller tasks such as supervising the financial accounts of Fish on Toast. There are 2 president roles this year.

Vice President: As VP, you will be expected to fill in for the presidents when they cannot attend meetings/events. This is a crucial role which also aids to the creation of innovative events and strategies. There is only 1 VP role this year, however this position is competitive.

Secretary: Secretary is responsible in keeping the committee organised and taking notes in committee meetings. All documents and accounts will be managed by the secretary. This role is vital in the effective functioning of the society.

Marketing: Advertising and coming up with innovative ways to successfully market this event is all part of the role. Using social media and our mailing list, you will be responsible for attracting new members into our society. There are 2 marketing roles this year.

Webmaster: As webmaster, you will need to be efficient with coding and keeping the website and blog up to date with the most recent events.

Sponsorship: The head of sponsorship is responsible for finding external and internal organisations to fund our society, including large London companies and student led companies such as NACUE.
