Another catch up post from the summer today. This was a comprehensive bird proofing solution for our customer. We’ve used Birdcomb® eaves protector to stop any bird ingress to the soffit box or loft. After that, we’ve removed another terrible solar mesh attempt, installed by an absolute chancer, it appears to have been held on mostly using hopes and dreams. We’ve removed that and sent it where it belongs, the scrap pile. Defender Bird Spikes Jaws to the rescue here, full perimeter protection for both sets of solar panels. A solar job from earlier this year. Failed mesh had allowed birds to gain access underneath the panels, and unfortunately for them, some had become stuck and had perished. That amount of nesting material, composed of dried twigs, that’s wrapped around the cables and connectors? That’s a fire risk waiting to happen, and that’s why you need your solar panels protected from birds. We’ve removed the failed, very poorly fitted mesh install, and replaced it with Defender Bird Spikes solar panel bird excluders, for a neat, and most importantly, bird free finish. Also on this job, we’ve added a row of wide steel spikes to the roof edge above the patio, this will stop any roosting there, and eliminate the fouling build up outside the patio doors. One of our bigger bird jobs so far, this was an addition to previous work we have done for the client. Pleased with the results of the initial work, the client requested the whole building to be protected from pigeons. This included the roof ridges, chimney pots and flaunching, signage, lights, ledges and eaves. This one also takes the crown for amount of individual products on one of our jobs. 1) Thistle for the signs and lights. 2) Wide steel for the ledges in 316 Marine. 3) Curved ridge also in 316 Marine. 4) Solar panel bird excluders on the back side of the eaves boards. 5) Chimney crowns for the chimneys. A selection of smaller bird jobs we’ve completed lately, all using a variety of products from First up is a first try out for us using the new chimney crowns to protect the top of chimney caps from roosting birds. Very easy to fit, and have proved to be very effective so far. Next up are two satellite dishes from neighbouring properties, which had both been suffering from interrupted signal issues and fouling build up below due to feral pigeons roosting on the mounting arms and brackets. We have solved these issues using a combination of thistle spikes and wide plastic spikes on both. Using the plastic items in this situation ensures not only that the birds are excluded, but also the spikes themselves won’t cause any signal interference issues. Aurora Environmental Solutions Ltd

It’s not all glitz and glamour in pest control! Today’s call out for a fly issue and ‘funny smell’ turned out to be a dead fox in the roof void. This unfortunate fox had managed to get inside the roof void, and likely couldn’t find a way out.
