Really thrilled to have another article published in Horse & Hound 🐎✨

This time I had the pleasure of exploring career pathways within the equestrian world – a topic I’m incredibly passionate about.

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to be interviewed. Your honesty, insight and generosity made this piece what it is, and you were all an absolute pleasure to speak to.

Proof that there are so many inspiring (and often unexpected) ways to build a career around horses 💙

So thrilled with this little horse 🫶🏼

After smashing his dressage on Sunday to take a whopping 71.51% in only his 4th show and win a decent sized class, and then taking me confidently around XC last week, I’ve decided now is the time to slow him down for winter and give him another break to mature. He doesn’t owe me anything else this side of spring as a 4 year old! 🥲

I could go on and on about how special he is to me, but my friends and those close know about the timing he came into my life and how he helped.

Huge thank you to everyone that’s helped me with him this year and supported us all the way through! I’ll miss riding him consistently, but can’t wait to pick back up properly again in Spring!

Out of all the horses I’ve broken and had, he’s by far the easiest and happiest little chap! I truly believe some things are just meant to be and he was and is definitely one of them ❤️🫶🏼

August - November 🤘🏼

Jumanji’s first time XC vs his 4th.

I’ve not had too many expectations with him this year but have to admit that I felt the pressure of what everybody else’s 4 year old was doing out in the “big bad world” and to see them jumping huge courses and maybe even doing their first BE80 class, feels heavy!

I’ve never wanted to rush him nor do a bad job and hold him back. It’s a fine line of too much, but enough and to educate him in the right way!

Hopefully I’m getting it right. I’ll always question everyday whether I’m doing him justice and whether I’m good enough to produce a horse whose bloodlines make him destined to be a jump horse.

He loves his job and I never want to ruin that but I’m also well aware I need to trust him more and remember he’s not Ziggy and he absolutely never backs off a fence (I’ve never ridden a horse that quite takes me to a fence like Jumanji), and that will come!

Here’s to a winter now of schooling, building muscle, top line and working on showjumping!

Hopefully one day I’ll do this little horse the justice he deserves ❤️

Hey everyone,

Another media request from me please for an equine magazine article 🙏🏼

Does anyone have any contacts that have graduated from the likes of The British Racing School, Sparsholt, Warwickshire College, Scotland Rural College, Kingston Maurwood.

I have a couple of other institutes I can include, but looking for 3 people that have graduated from here, and now work in an equine background.

I ideally need one “famous” from this list as well.

Thank you in advance!

Absolutely thrilled to have my latest piece in Horse & Hound! ⭐️

This one dives into the pros and cons of indoor vs outdoor stabling; something so many of us have strong opinions on!

I love being able to mix my passion for horses with my writing and it feels great to be getting back into some freelancing 🫶🏼

Huge thanks to the two lovely ladies I interviewed for their time and expertise; you were a pleasure to work with! ❤️

Blimey, what a couple of weeks it’s been for championships! 😳🤠

This time of year always seems to go from 0 to 100 - you forget just how many things you’ve qualified for until they all land at once! 😅

First up was the Riding Club National Championships, where we were part of the showjumping team. I’ll be honest, I hate jumping at Lincoln with a passion, and it always shows 🙈. The courses are huge (though, looking back at the photos, they somehow look tiny?!).

We had 4 faults in both rounds, but Ziggy’s attitude was brilliant, so I couldn’t be happier with him.

After Lincoln, I decided it was time to find a new jump instructor; someone who could help with my own confidence and Ziggy’s spookiness. We’ve found one, and he’s been a total game-changer.

His advice: keep a “channel tunnel” to the fence, ride every stride, and stop letting Ziggy choose long or short ones. At 15, he says Ziggy needs to start helping me out for a change! 😂

Next up was the British Riding Club Combined Training Championships in Northampton - one of my favourite venues. We actually won the Prelim Championships there 3 years ago, so the pressure was on for the Novice class!

Zig came out a little stiff in the dressage, so our score wasn’t quite what he’s capable of, but we sat in 5th after the first phase.

The showjumping was twisty and technical, catching a lot of people out… but Zig absolutely smashed it and jumped clear! 🙌

Our first championship clear in a year and what a place to get it! We finished 5th out of 28, so I was thrilled (even if I was secretly hoping for a sash 🥲).

Then came the big one; the British Dressage PetPlan Championships. Cue one exhausted rider after a concert the night before and about 2 hours’ sleep! 😂

Zig came off the trailer full of beans, and once we entered the “arena of dreams,” everything else faded away.

He danced his heart out and scored 67.23%, finishing 12th out of 27 against some of the best novice horses in the country. For my little £250 pony, I couldn’t be prouder. ❤️

And at the other end of the scale, it was also Jumanji’s first ever dressage outing! At just 4, he handled it like a star. I won’t lie there’s a weird pressure knowing people are watching after my success with Ceaser and Ziggy.

It almost feels like imposter syndrome like I don’t deserve to have such a nice young horse. But he’s proof that hard work pays off.

He did two Intro tests - a slightly spooky 67% in the first, then a lovely, more confident 66% in the tricky Intro 4. For his first ever competition, I couldn’t have asked for more. 🥰

It’s been surreal having two ends of the spectrum in one weekend - a seasoned horse at a national championship and a baby horse doing his very first test.

Both of them fill my heart completely. 💕

Onwards and upwards - a huge thank you to everyone that’s supported us these last few weeks! I’ve decided to withdraw from the Veteran BD champs as it’s Zigs first year he’s eligible anyway so we’ve plenty of time for that - we’re going to finish the season with some fun ❤️

Are any of my contacts willing to be interviewed for an article I’m writing please?

It’s going to be published in Horse & Hound and I need someone who prefers a barn type stabling set up and someone who prefers loose boxes.

I’m going on a very unbiased opinion and seeing the benefits from both sides.

I’m on a tight deadline so ideally today! Thank you 🙏🏼

✨ Big news and a proud moment to share! ✨

Three weeks ago, I sat my BHS Stage 3 Coaching exam… and I’m so delighted to say I passed! 🎉🐴

This journey started in an unexpected way. A while back, I read a negative comment online on some kids social media about my teaching. Alongside a fellow riding school using the fact I wasn’t BHS qualified as their marketing tool when people called.

Despite years of experience, it really ate away at me that I wasn’t qualified and I felt a huge sense of imposter syndrome.

But then, when I was made redundant from my corporate role, I decided it was time to stop doubting myself and just go for it - to get qualified and prove to myself that I could.

The exam itself wasn’t easy. I was given a horse in the cross-country section who was known for refusing fences. It was a real test of my coaching and under pressure too, but it actually worked in my favour as we all know I’m used to dealing with Ziggys “no’s!” - the horse finished jumping a lovely course and the examiner commented I really should consider going to Stage 4 rather quickly as she thought I was more than capable.

That vote of confidence means the world 🥹

Becoming a Stage 3 Instructor not only strengthens what we can offer through the riding school, but also opens so many new doors 🤞🏼

There aren’t many schools with a Stage 3 instructor on-site at all times, and I feel really proud of what that means for us and the potential growth opportunities over the next 12 months as a business. I won’t stop until we’re the best I believe we can be!

Looking ahead, I’ll also be taking on some freelance coaching both for individuals and groups, including pony clubs, while I continue my own journey towards Stage 4.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me on this path, including my current clients who have let me use them as guinea pigs, and to my horses for making me strive to continuously be and do better to advocate for their needs!

This is just the beginning of an exciting new chapter for both the riding school and me personally! 💫🐎

Pinch me 🤩

Jumanji took a little trip out last week to his first ever look around a XC course!

We had zero expectations and just wanted him to see the world a little more outside of his box, wait patiently whilst the other horse in our group moved away and left him - and yeah, just behave!

And that he did! He was so perfect 😍

We even popped over a couple of teeny fences, and to say he’s never seen a XC jump in his life, he saw them, pricked his little ears up, cantered into them and popped them no problems 🤩

I blooming love this little horse - he’s so bold for 4 years old! ❤️
