With the promise of good weather appearing over the summer we all will have the pleasure to cruise to the beach and bask on the beach with our friends or family.

A little known incident that can happen to a front seat passenger on this journey is when the airbag goes off either due to a fault or a car smash.

Placing your legs on the dashboard may feel relaxing but it's something that can cause life changing injury if the airbag goes off, for whatever reason.

I'm back, it's been a while but here we go.
I suppose the guys couldn't make up their mind whether to use a ladder or tower scaffold.
Work at Height Regs advise you must select the most suitable piece of equipment and not just the most convenient.
As for the 15 minute rule - well then your H&S Advisor will need to have another look.
I'll have another post on that subject next week.

Lucky no-one was killed in this incident. It reminds me of an incident on the Scout Moor wind farm with a crane driver I was friendly with who didn't survive the incident.

It's a wonder the company didn't check out the road before driving on it.

I've worked on wind farms for a number of years now and the crane company's have always insisted on being issued with CBR tests for the roads, which we always had ready to hand out to anyone that wanted them.

We've always walked the road too to identify any potential pinch points or weak spots in the road, one in particular springs to mind on a job near Newcastle.
At 10:30 at night where we walked the route with the crane and seen that a section of the entrance road wasn't fit to travel on. I took the decision to park everything and bring it up to the Client / PC in the morning

One thing I notice in the picture below, why are the outriggers extended on one side?

Something to take with you before the next job, pre-start checks, and task planning.

A 48-tonne crane toppling over on Pigeon Top outside Omagh prompted a major operation over the weekend.

Hi Folks,
Haven't posted anything in a while, been kinda busy.....'Breaking Bad Habits' is also returning shortly with its 4th instalment.

Third outing for the Breaking Bad Habits.

This week I just decided to post some pictures of poor work practice, like not using spreader pads under crane outriggers / overloading issue, using a ladder form the top of a van, and some f*cking idiot doing a bit of demolition from the forks of a telehandler................ with a mini-digger, unbelievable!!
