Today during a session I discussed how speaking to someone who has the experience within your industry can be so useful, and can make it much easier for you to step back and look at your business.

My Dad for years kept saying how difficult that is, specially when you're running everything on your own.

Do you sometimes doubt your skills as a business owner?
Do you wish you could communicate and secure contracts better?
Or maybe its the construction industry that is making things so much tougher?

There are a few reasons why I chose to coach within construction and I get to do what I love while helping others with their communication and confidence, and all thanks to my Dad.

He is the one that I have been watching for years struggle to make his business a success. He makes stainless steel banisters in Poland and he is incredible at it, but over the 23 years of journey, he had some very tough times. He shared all those lessons with me and I will always be grateful for all that he taught me.

I've been going through a tough time myself 10 years ago, where my marriage fell apart, I was too distracted to keep my job, my confidence was at its lowest and my finances were a mess.
I turned to coaching, my life started turning around, I worked hard, set goals and accomplished them one by one. In the process I got a really good job, fixed all my finances, learned how to be happy, got my coaching qualification, and no I am running my successful and fully loved business :)

Continue mastering Listening with tip 2: Reflect Back

When you are listening to someone, from time to time it is worth repeating back what they say to them. It shows that you are listening actively. It is something I coach business owners on to get better results daily.

You can use phrases like:
So you are saying... OR Do I understand correctly that... OR Just to clarify what you mean is…

I do recommend doing this with employees, clients, and even family and your partner, as it shows others that you are paying attention and strengthens all your relationships.
Improving your communication this way, will get you better results in the long term, as you will over time be introduced to more opportunities and you will get more information that is useful to you during conversations where your speaker feels the attention you are giving them. Very useful tool I use during my coaching.

When people feel listened to, the chances of you getting what you want out of the partnership is much higher, and ensures your business success (or relationship success too) 😊

Here is what you can do with VALUES, once you know them...

If you don't know these, your focus is hindered, and life and business are not as easy as they could be.

When you do know them, you can then include them in your vision and your mission.
You can also promote your business with these values as a unique approach or your USP.
You can get your team to engage more by including their values into your business ones, creating more commitment.
You and your business can stand for something significant on a large scale, and be more attractive to future employees.
Your brand image will benefit from defined and clear values too, when clients see you in the light of your values.
Cooperation with your existing partners and suppliers will also be impacted once you include your values in your emails, on your walls, into your branding...

Start this weekend with practising Listening tip 1: Focus while waiting to speak

This means that while you have something to say and you are waiting to speak when the other person finishes, do make sure that you are still focusing and paying attention.
They may change the subject or say something really important to your business, while you are thinking of what you will say to prove to them you made the right decision
Often the conversation moves forward, while in your mind you are still focused on the one small aspect that has been left behind.
It may be an important fact to you, but if you keep paying attention, you will know more, and have much more useful information once they finish speaking.

You can always go back to what you wanted to say (if you're worried you will forget - note down a word related to it), but if you FOCUS while waiting and Hold Off, your listener will feel:
- respected
- appreciated
- valued
- and more open to tell you things

Wouldn't that be better for your business and your personal relationships too?

It has been a while since I last posted after taking a bit of time to take of my family, and while I was still doing coaching sessions, I haven't sent any tools or videos here.

I hope they are still helpful to my connections and my friends, and will now catch up on it by posting my entire personal development video course starting 1st of April on some of my social media sites. It can all be found on YouTube from 10th April 2024.
