Robots don't get a pass just because they're doing the dangerous work for you.

Industrial robot arms are showing up in more and more hazardous areas these days, welding, handling, inspecting, wherever it's too risky to send a person. But put a robot in a classified zone and it needs the same protection any other piece of electrical equipment would.

We've been building purged & pressurized solutions for robot arms for a while now, alongside our usual bread and butter, control panels, PLC/DCS cabinets, gas and liquid analysers. When an Australian engineering projects company needed compressor control enclosures for a global oil & gas client, the brief wasn't simple: corrosion-resistant 316L stainless, easy access for maintenance, wireless sensors for predictive monitoring, plus batteries that needed special assessment. All on a tight shutdown timeline.

Our team built two large, double-door enclosures to spec, and fitted each with a Type X purge system anyway, even though the classification only called for Type Z, just to give the end-users a higher level of control.

Sometimes the right answer is more protection than the standard requires.

Gas isn't the only thing that can put an ignition source in an enclosure.

Combustible dust settles, builds up, and gets everywhere. Standard purge systems built for gas hazards weren't designed with that in mind.
