Eyesight test
You will have to read a number plate from a distance of 20 metres for new style number plate or from a distance of 20.5 for any old style plate ( around 4 cars in a line )

Vecicle safety questions

The examiner will ask you 2 questions in relation to the day to day checks that should be carried out. For example: How would you check the oil level.

Practical test

This will last around 40 minutes, the examiner will ask you to follow the road ahead at all times unless road signs or they indicate otherwise. You will have to demonstrate 1 manoeuvre and possibly an emergency stop ; you will have to carry out an independant drive lasting around 10 minutes. after the test the examiner will go through a short debrief with you and then deliver the verdict.

The theory test
The theory test comprises of: 50 multiple choice questions from 16 different categories, the overall pass mark is 43 but each category must be passed. The hazzard perception consists of 14 video clips containing hazzards; one of the clips will contain 2 hazzards. each hazzard has a scoring potential of 5 marks with a possible total of 75 marks, the pass mark is 44. Look out for developing hazzards which would cause you to react.

Pass Plus
The scheme has been designed by the Driving standards Agency(DSA), with the help of the motor insurance and driving instructoin industries, to develop your skills and knowledge in areas you may have limited experience.

It consists of a minimum of six hours training and the emphasis is on developing your practical driving skills.

THERE IS NO TEST AT THE END
Instead, you'll be assessed throughout: you must cover all the modules to complete the training.
