💚Volunteer Befrienders Wanted – Help Us Tackle Loneliness💚

At My Homecare Surrey, many of our clients would love nothing more than a regular visit from a friend. Sadly, for some people, finances stand in the way of being able to access companionship services.

We want to help bridge that gap.

We are looking for kind-hearted volunteers who would like to give back to the community by spending a little time with someone who may otherwise feel isolated or lonely.

Even a simple chat over a cup of tea, a short walk, or playing a game together can make a huge difference to someone’s day.

✨ What volunteering might involve:
• Friendly visits and conversation
• Having tea and a chat
• Going for short walks
• Playing games or reading together
• Offering companionship and social interaction

⏰ Time commitment:
Just 1–2 hours a week can make a real difference.

✅ We will provide (at no cost to our clients):
• DBS check
• Basic training and support
• Ongoing guidance from our team
• Travel expenses covered

At My Homecare, staff appraisals play an important role in recognising the dedication, hard work and commitment our team shows every day. These reviews give us the opportunity to reflect on achievements, discuss development goals, and ensure our team members feel valued and supported in their roles.

Regular supervisions also help us maintain high standards of care by encouraging growth, learning, and open communication within the team.

This helps us:
🔍 Spot patterns and trends
⚠️ Identify new or emerging risks
✅ See what’s working well and what needs improving

We look at incidents, near-misses, and feedback so we can understand why things happen — and how to prevent them in the future.

From these reviews, we:
🛠️ Put changes in place early
📚 Improve training and systems
🤝 Support staff to work safely and confidently

We then share key learning and actions in our newsletters 📰, so everyone knows:
✨ What we’ve learned
✨ What actions we’re taking
✨ How reporting leads to real improvements
