What does “socially independent single neurodivergent adult” mean?

I’ve had people ask what this phrase means, so here’s a simple explanation.

A socially independent neurodivergent single adult is someone who:

🧩 Is neurodivergent (for example, autistic, has ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Tourette syndrome, or another neurodivergent profile).

💬 Is able to manage their own daily life and social interactions independently, even if they prefer smaller groups or need downtime.

💙 Is single - not currently in a romantic relationship.

Being socially independent means they can make their own choices, manage their own social life, and attend activities independently.

As someone who is late diagnosed myself, I know how exhausting it can be to spend years masking, trying to fit in, and feeling like you're the only one who finds certain environments overwhelming.

Our first event, Outdoor Giant Games (for socially independent single neurodivergent adults) will be held on August 15th 11am-2pm at the beautiful Abbey Manor - Buildwas! This is a social event for friendship and dating, for adults of all ages!

"Do I need a diagnosis to come to Neuro Events Shropshire?"

Absolutely not. 💚

Whether you're formally diagnosed or self-identify as neurodivergent, you are welcome here.

For many people, getting a diagnosis isn't straightforward. Some are on waiting lists, some can't access an assessment, and others have spent years wondering why they've always felt a little different.

What matters most is that you relate to the experiences many neurodivergent people share.

Maybe you...

✨ Mask without even realising you're doing it.
✨ Feel overwhelmed in busy or noisy environments.
✨ Need quiet time to recharge after socialising.
✨ Like knowing what's happening beforehand.
✨ Or... you're time blind!

Talking of time blindness...

My boss, Pixie (Speed Dating Shropshire), isn't neurodivergent, but she is the most time-blind person I've ever met!

If Pixie messages saying, "I'll pick you up at 4," I know full well she's arriving at 4:30! 🤣

It's become such a running joke between us that I don't even question it anymore!

The point is, not every trait is unique to neurodivergent people. Lots of people can be time blind, need quiet after a busy day, or feel socially drained. But if you've spent your life feeling like you experience the world a little differently and you've found comfort in the neurodivergent community, then this space is for you.

Neuro Events Shropshire isn't about ticking boxes or proving anything.

It's about finding people who just get it.

Are you ready to meet new people, for dating or friendship?

Our Outdoor Giant Games (for socially independent single neurodivergent adults) is now on sale, and I'd love to see you there.

This isn't just an event - it's a community of single neurodivergent adults.

One of the best things about our events is that most people will arrive on their own. It creates a welcoming atmosphere where everyone is open to meeting new people.

The event has a gentle structure, so you'll always know what's happening next; there are quiet areas available if you'd like to take some time out and take in the beautiful surroundings.

The event is held in the grounds of Abbey Manor - Buildwas (12 minutes from Telford Centre), I'll be there to welcome you and get you settled in!

We'll have giant outdoor games including:

🎳 Skittles
🟨 Giant Dominoes
🥫 Tin Can Alley
🎲 Giant Jenga
🏓 Giant Connect 4

Feel free to bring a picnic and a picnic blanket. Some seating will also be available.

To keep the event relaxed and comfortable, we're limiting numbers to 40 people. You will be given a number 1-40 when you arrive and a match card; this makes matching for friendship or something more, simple. You'll be sent any matches within 24 hours of the event.

Although the outdoor space at Abbey Manor is spacious, keeping the group smaller helps create a calm atmosphere where everyone has the chance to chat, join in, or enjoy the surroundings without it feeling overwhelming.

I'll also be aiming for a roughly equal number of men and women attending. Because of this, there may be times when tickets are temporarily paused while we balance the numbers, so if you'd like to come along, I'd recommend booking sooner rather than later.

I genuinely can't wait to meet you all. 💚
