🚗🩹 Who says first aid training has to be serious all day?

I had a fantastic time delivering an Emergency First Aid at Work course for Vehicle Works in Ixworth recently. There were plenty of laughs, lots of questions and everyone got fully involved. 👏

What I thought was especially brilliant was that it wasn't just the owner, his wife and the team taking part. They'd also invited their daughter and her friend, who had just finished their last year at school. ❤️

First aid really is a skill for life and it's never too early to learn how to help someone in an emergency.

Being surrounded by mechanics meant we couldn't resist putting a few automotive twists on the training! 😄 We joked that chest compressions are all about keeping the pressure up, just like fuel pressure, and that an AED is there to give the heart a jump start. Safe to say there were plenty of smiles throughout the day!

A huge thank you to everyone at Vehicle Works for making me feel so welcome. I hope you never need to use your new skills, but if you do, you'll be ready to make a real difference. 💚

🌿 Did you know that Giant Hogweed can cause serious skin burns?

Often mistaken for Cow Parsley, Giant Hogweed contains a sap that can react with sunlight and cause painful burns, blistering and skin irritation.

If you come into contact with the plant:

✅ Wash the area with soap and water immediately.
✅ Keep the affected area covered and out of sunlight.
✅ Seek medical advice if symptoms develop.

The safest approach is simple: if you're not sure what it is, don't touch it.

We’re running a CPR & Defibrillator Awareness Day in Hatfield Peverel to raise money for the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity - HRCC 💙

There are 4 sessions available throughout the day:

Each session is 1.5 hours and costs £25, with every penny going to charity.

😟 “I’d panic in an emergency.”

Honestly? Most people say exactly the same thing before attending first aid training.

But confidence changes quickly when people realise:

✔ CPR is simpler than they expected
✔ Defibrillators literally talk you through what to do
✔ Doing SOMETHING is usually far better than doing nothing

The goal of first aid training isn’t perfection.
It’s helping people feel confident enough to act.
