Something fishy going on!

Now I don’t actually eat out too often, other than travelling and the odd special occasion. So today was a super treat instigated by my sis! I had my annual dose of seafood at the Humber Fish Co. Restaurant, based in a very popular area just off Hull Marina (I live oop North!).

You see, I love seafood and fish. Hubby, on the other hand, hates anything to do with it!! Bring a dead fish anywhere near and he starts to bristle (never really got to the bottom of this almost phobic behaviour - deffo didn’t get fish slapped as a boy!! And a Hull lad at that! Hello? Major Fish port!???). So, every now and then I get fed by well meaning friends and family. Today being a great example of this!

Restaurant definitely worth a trip for any fish lover! I settled for a simple Prawn cocktail starter (lovely crusty brown bread with slathering of butter - you can’t beat a bit of Marie-Rose sauce) followed by massive King Prawns (bit of a theme) in a light tempura batter with a Thai inspired (coconut) dipping sauce-which I swapped for a home-made tartare sauce! Altogether scrumptious and with real portions (none of this plate decoration).

Forgot to mention that my sister is totally allergic to fish/seafood (it won’t kill her but it’s bad!) so massive sacrifice on her part! The only annoying thing is she had very little choice (basically none - bring back the Camembert starter). So that was the only downside. It’s just as well she enjoyed watching me stuffing my face with seafood 🙂 🍤

Highly recommended but on the pricey end of things. Lucky for me this was a treat!! Sorry no photos of what was consumed! Next time.
