Please DO NOT burn down your beautiful home and risk everyone's life just because it is easier for you to work on your laptop from your bed
You are taking Ergonomic risk and Safety risks
WellbeingandErgonomics team are dealing with an H&S breach case where an FT homework completed an online DSE self-assessment but always worked on their laptop from bed and the laptop caught fire whilst charging...🔥
Half of the employee's home is burned down...the employee does not have home insurance either
No one from the organisation checked/questioned the completed DSE form and verified their working from home working conditions...
HSE is investigating the case, and it seems like the employer will be fined a significant amount of money for their H&S breach and their insurance does not cover safety breach costs
Only last week, we were given a yearly contract to conduct a face-to-face assessment to protect everyone in the organisation from any DSE safety breaches...
🔥 Please DO NOT use your laptop on your bed/sofa or any fabric surface etc - use a ventilated laptop stand and have a proper workstation setup
🔥 Please DO NOT charge your laptop in bed/sofa whilst sleeping or even awake
🔥 Please DO NOT use your laptop on your lap to avoid toasted skin syndrome
🔥 Please DO NOT use your laptop on your tummy again to avoid toasted skin syndrome
Please STOP now✋️
After watching the video and reading my post, if you continue using your DSE in your bed/sofa/body etc, then you are taking a life-threatening RISK on your life and everyone else's life.
This laptop 3D fire simulation was created by fire rescue services to raise awareness of fire safety when working from home, and I was pleased to be invited to their event
If your organisation has never done a DSE Assessment or has never done a DSE Audit, we can do it for you...
From 6th April Flexible Working is the employee's day one right and if your employee will be working from home even for a day, the right DSE Assessment must be done
