AI is becoming a brilliant tool for helping customers visualise ideas — but there is a big difference between an AI-generated concept and production-ready artwork.
Whilst many other companies are refusing to work with AI- we work alongside it. If you come to us with a concept we will explain what can and can’t be achieved straight away. We personally don’t recommend using AI but it’s here to stay so we adapt with it, however if we are creating your designs then we don’t use ai as we use our scaled templates to make sure your graphics are correct.
This example is a strong concept and a clear direction for how he wanted his van to look. The visual idea was there, but there were no usable logo files, no print-ready artwork and no brand guidelines in place.
That meant logo redraw from scratch, created usable brand assets, developing the artwork into a format suitable for print and then adapted the layout to suit the real vehicle.
This is something many people don’t realise when using AI-generated images.
AI can create a brilliant visual reference, but it does not provide the technical files needed for professional print, signage or vehicle graphics. Our machines need artwork in the correct format, with the correct quality, scale, colours, cut paths, colour codes and production setup.
That is why we charge a design conversion fee when customers don’t already have suitable artwork in place.
Another important point is that AI-generated concepts cannot always be replicated 100%.
There are many reasons for this, including available materials, client budget, print limitations, colour matching, vehicle shape, panel breaks, wheel arches, trims, handles and the difference between a digital render and real-world installation
For example the original concept included graduated imagery and effects. A matte black finish with gloss accents would give a stronger and more professional result. Because of the chosen materials and finish, certain gradient effects were not practical, so the design would be adapted using solid colours, clean lines and a layout that would work properly in production.
