Jon got asked again today how to pronounce Niche Appliance Repair 😂 which was really funny!
So we thought, once and for all, we’d explain it.
It’s pronounced NEESH. 😁
Not Nicky.
Not Nish.
Not Nitch.
And not “that appliance man with the name nobody wants to say out loud.” 😂
The best part is, people don’t just get the business name mixed up. They sometimes call Jon Niche like it’s his actual name.
On the phone, at the door, we’ve had…
“Morning, Niche.”
“Hi Niche, come in.”
“Been lovely meeting you Niche”
And honestly, Jon just answers to it now.
It has become a bit of an ice breaker with customers, and we do love having a laugh about it.😂
But the name Niche isn’t just there to confuse people on the phone.
Niche means a specialist area. Your thing. The bit you really know inside out.
And for Jon, that’s appliances.
More specifically, proper fault finding, diagnosing the problem properly, understanding what the machine is actually doing, and knowing when something can be repaired instead of just written off.
Because let’s be honest, not every repair is the same, and not every engineer works the same way.
Sometimes appliances get written off far too quickly. Sometimes parts get changed without the real fault being found first. And sometimes customers are told, “you’ll need a new one,” when the machine may just need someone who knows where to look.
That’s where Jon’s training comes in.
Jon spent years training through brands including Hoover Candy and Miele, and many more…travelling, staying away, learning directly from the brands, and seeing how machines are built, tested, diagnosed and repaired properly.
He learnt how to use specialist diagnostic equipment, understand fault codes, test parts properly, and find out what the appliance is actually trying to tell him.
Proper fault finding really matters.
Jon doesn’t like guessing. He doesn’t like rushing. And he definitely doesn’t like changing parts just for the sake of it.
He’d rather take the time to understand what’s actually causing the problem first.
That’s Jon’s niche.
Not guesswork.
Not panic replacing.
Not writing appliances off too quickly.
Just proper appliance repair, done with care.
So if you’ve ever called us Nicky Appliance Repair, or greeted Jon at the door like Niche is his actual first name, don’t worry. 😉
Jon will probably have a laugh with you, answer to it anyway, and still get your appliance sorted.
Niche Appliance Repair
Pronounced NEESH, but honestly, Jon answers to most versions now 😂
