It’s our third and final Display at the English Riviera Airshow. The RAF Tutor Display Team are on at 1341 and Rich is back in XH “Bumblebee”.

Pop to our Display Tent on Paignton Green where you can meet our Display manager Flt Lt Ross Edmunds and the students from Bristol University Air Squadron.

Look who Rich found on the way to Torbay!!

The RAF Tutor Display Team would like to thank last years Tutor Display Pilot, Flt Lt Bob Dewes for mentoring Rich through his PDA work up and for accompanying us at our first show of the season. With the aircraft now parked at Exeter, we look forward to Displaying two different colour schemes at the English Riviera Airshow.

At the end of the 2026 season, we’ll look through all submissions from all airshows and decide who’s won!

MEET THE TEAM

The RAF Tutor Display Team Display Engineer for the 2026 season is Chris.

Born in Yorkshire, Chris started his career as an apprentice electrician, before joining the RAF as an avionics technician. His service saw him based in the Middle East, Italy, and had him working on various aircraft; his favorite being the SEPECAT Jaguar. Chris retired from the RAF after 12 years and has worked for Babcock as the Tutor Display Team Display Engineer for the past 9 years. In his spare time Chris enjoys running and swimming.

MEET THE TEAM

The RAF Tutor Display Team Display Supervisor for the 2026 season is Squadron Leader Ollie Thornton.

Sqn Ldr Thornton went to Shiplake College for A Levels and then DeMontfort University where he studied Media Studies. After graduating with a BA Hons degree he joined the RAF in 2007. After completing his Flying Training, where he won the Best in The Air Trophy, he was selected to fly the Hercules C-130J with 30 Sqn, where he amassed over 1200 flying hours on type and achieved a Combat Ready Above Average grading. After multiple operational tours he was posted to 45 Sqn, to be a Qualified Flying Instructor, teaching junior pilots how to fly aircraft such as the B200King Air & Phenom TMk1. Most recently he was promoted and took command of East Midlands Universities Air Squadron, where he currently teaches university students to fly the Grob Tutor; alongside supporting the Tutor Display Team. He is a proud Trustee for Flying Scholarships for Disabled People and enjoys property renovation and gardening.
