☕⚠️ 𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗔𝗧 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆⚠️☕
While carrying out 𝗣𝗔𝗧 / 𝗘𝗘𝗧 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, our team came across this coffee machine with a cable that had been “repaired” using gaffer tape.
Unfortunately, tape is not a safe repair method for damaged electrical cables.
Upon inspection, the cable had 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀, creating the potential for:
⚡ Electric shock
⚡ Short circuits
⚡ Damage to the appliance
⚡ Increased fire risk
As soon as damage like this is found, the appliance will fail its PAT Test and should be removed from service until a proper repair or replacement has been carried out.
It’s a great example of why regular 𝗣𝗔𝗧 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 is so important. Small issues can often go unnoticed during day-to-day use, but they can present a real safety risk to staff and customers.
A bit of tape might look like a quick fix, but when it comes to electrical safety, it’s never worth the risk.
