Stair nosings & Greek Islands.

The building Regulations has a requirement to “highlighting nosings”. When I saw black nosings on brown stairs plus an additional confusing yellow strip I offered a suggestion to hotel manager Nikos. I explained how falls on stairs cause many accidents and suggested next time they work on the stairs to follow the GB guidance. I didn’t expect it improved by the next morning! This is Skiathos after all!

“Shall we go for a sunset walk?” my son asked on Friday evening. It was 6.30pm and I was deeply focused on a client’s injury report. I was ‘in the zone’ so wanted to work on. Sanity prevailed and we went to our favourite and very isolated nature reserve. Sunset was spectacular and I’m so glad we went out & spent time together.

Started responding to the government consultation this morning. I estimate it to be at least a heavy going 45-60 minutes task. There is talk of reducing the “Burdens of accident reporting” but the consultation itself is exhausting.

Danger Deep Water AND Danger Shallow Water!

These service station signs on the M6 motorway have really made me think. I have often thought that the ‘danger deep water’ sign is rather pointless because I always see it displayed where the water is shallow. But whoever put the signs up here have surpassed themselves as they have both signs!
I have never seen a warning about shallow water before. Perhaps to advise against diving?
And the ‘deep’ end of the lake was also shallow. It’s not often I’m so confused!

I made a schoolboy error today 68 metres up on the roof looking down on the construction project. A gust of high wind took my safety helmet. Should have used a chin strap!
