Completed a couple of shifts this week at an old youth offenders institute in Derby.

On assignments like this our main duty would be to make sure nobody trespassers on the property for their own safety forfilling the clients legal duty of care to the public on their behalf because its a hazardous construction site. Also, if a trespasser was to get injured or killed on a site like this the owner of the property (our client) would be held liable for any damages to the trespassers. That's the main two reason's why clients hire the presence of SIA security officers on sites like these and other forms of abandoned property.

Secondly, our other duty would be to prevent or stop the theft of construction equipment, construction machinery, tools, and building materials.
Many different types of criminal steal from construction site's with various motives for doing so.
Small rogue construction firms often steal from the sites of bigger construction firms in order to complete their own smaller contracts to maximise their profits.
Serious organised criminal gangs will steal from construction site's to gain assets that will assist them when breaking into banks, vaults, ATM's, and shops etc.
Organised criminal gangs also steal assets from construction site's to sell these assets on the black market to terrorist groups and other criminals.

Homeless people, squatters, drug addicts, and alcoholics can be a major issue on any empty property or site.
