We’re looking forward to welcoming WO1 William (Billy) Shepherd, Naval Regional Engagement Officer for Yorkshire and Humber, who will share insights into the work of the Royal Navy and how it connects with local authorities, communities and businesses across the region.

You’ll also hear about the upcoming Wakefield Regional Capability Demonstration this September, a joint military and business expo bringing together organisations from across Barnsley, Kirklees and Wakefield.

We’re absolutely delighted to share that We Are Wakefield now has a star on the Theatre Royal Wakefield Wall of Fame!

Seeing our name shining brightly alongside local business royalty and some bona fide celebrities is a real honour, and a moment we’re incredibly proud of.

This recognition also reflects the fantastic partnership we’ve enjoyed with the Theatre Royal over the past four and a half years. Supporting such an important cultural cornerstone in our city has been a privilege, and we’re proud to continue championing everything the theatre brings to Wakefield.

A brilliant night at our latest WAW quiz event 🎉

Huge congratulations to Handelsbanken, taking the win for the second time in a row 👏

Solupak and Hako Machines Ltd also stole the show with the best team name… Clean Sweepers 🧼

And of course, the famous Losers Lambrini went to a six‑strong team who shall remain nameless… you know who you are! 😉

With over 23 years of experience leading an independent recruitment business, Kelly has supported organisations across Wakefield and the wider Yorkshire region, bringing real insight, knowledge and passion for the local business community.

Speaking about her appointment, Kelly said:
"We Are Wakefield has played a key role in bringing our business community together over the last five years. To serve on the Board is a real honour and an opportunity to help ensure Wakefield continues to thrive, grow and realise its full potential.
