The festive season is about helping other people. So some wonderful business owners are raising money for South East Cancer Help Centre (SECHC) in Purley.

🌲It's happening at the glorious Madol Doova Restaurant in Wallington at 3pm on 21 December.

Your ticket buys you the following:
🍷 A delicious, delectable mulled wine on arrival
🍽️ A finger food buffet of the MOST incredible Sri Lankan food
🎶 Live entertainment provided by three West End partners in crime (together they've worked on Mamma Mia, Heathers, Come From Away, Les Misérables, Singin' in the Rain, The Lion King, Evita, Rent, and many, many more).

You just want 5 minutes ⏳ but you can’t switch off.

When you’re feeling behind it’s like a constant to-do list running through your mind.
When you’re feeling behind you’re probably in need of some systems and routines.

Here’s some ideas to get you started:
Laundry 🧺 – a load a day to keep it manageable, and set it on a timer so it’s ready when you are.
20 minute evening reset 🕗 – get the dishwasher running, wipe down the counters, hang out the laundry, put things back in their homes.
Meal prepping 🥗 – have a list of go-to meals to pick from for the upcoming week, and add the ingredients to your shopping list.
45 min weekly reset 🧹 – hoover, take the bins out, blitz any quick jobs and give your brain a rest.

If meal planning feels as much work as actually cooking - read on ⬇️

Meal planning was once a vague concept to me - why choose now when I can just choose later??
But with 2 kids, a full time job and a budget, I needed to plan to stay organised, control costs and feel one step ahead. 🗂️

I used to keep a list on a Google doc, and that was fine.
But I LOVE productivity tools. I started using Trello in my job and realised it could be a GAME CHANGER for my meal planning💡

🍴 I have a list of all my go-to meals, and I use labels to categorise them by main ingredient, if I can make them in the slow cooker, if they are cheap to make.
🍴 I meal plan early in the week for the following week.
🍴 I think about what’s happening next week that we need to take into account - is someone out late, are we having guests, do we want to eat out/treat ourselves to a take away, are there ingredients that need to be used up?
🍴 I apply whatever labels I want to narrow down my list.
🍴 I choose the meals that make the most sense for that week.
🍴 I check what ingredients are needed, what I need to buy and update my shopping list.

✨ If you love romanticising your life, then you’ll love my home reset strategy.

As we hurtle into autumn I’m craving warmth and comfort, and my living room felt a bit too light and breezy for that right now. 🍂

So what can I do about it?

🛋️ Swap my cushions for something softer
🧣 Swap my throw for something cosier
🕯️ More candles (always!)

My 3F strategy always keeps you in check:

⚙️ Function - what needs to happen in this space?
💖 Feeling - how do you want the space to make you feel?
🔄 Flow - how do you combine Function and Feeling and be able to use and move around the space intuitively?

In this case, I don’t need a whole redesign, but a few intentional purchases can change the whole feel of the room.

Imagine coming home to a clear and calm home, welcoming you with open arms, ready to ease you into the evening 🏡 ✨

It’s tidy
There’s a place for your coat, shoes and bag as soon as you come in
The kitchen counter’s clear to make a cuppa
Dinner’s already planned and you have everything you need to make it
You’re on the sofa by 8pm leaning into luxuriously plumped cushions
You head off to a beautifully made bed, ready to recharge and wake up refreshed

10 reasons your home might be feeling off.

Your home is talking to you. Here how they might be sending the wrong signals.

Artwork bringing the wrong vibe → it reflects into your home.
Broken things → you deserve better.
Things from a previous life → keep you tied to who you were, not who you are now.
Shoulds you never get round to using → lose the shoulds, lose the guilt.
Clothes you don’t wear → too big/too small/not for the life you live now. Live for now.
Duplicates → double the things, double the things to manage.
Things with no home → give them a home. If there isn’t space, then declutter or it will never be tidy.
Dead plants → dead energy
Things that have been in the same place for years → stuck energy.
Old towels & bedsheets → tired, worn out energy.

The secret to a clean and tidy home? ⬇️

Everything needs to have a place…

If something in your home doesn’t have its own home, then where is it going to go?

Left out on the side? Visible mess.
Stuffed in a drawer or cupboard? No room to reach or put away what actually lives there = mess.
Put “neatly” in the corner? Still mess.
Cleverly stored somewhere random that you’ll forget about? Hidden clutter = buying it again = mess.

If you can’t put something away, you greatly reduce the chance of being able to find it when you need it
If you don’t have space to create homes for all your stuff…then I’m sorry but you have too much stuff!
No amount of cleaning can beat clutter - but decluttering beats cleaning every time.

If you’re tired of living on repeat - tidy, mess, tidy, mess - it’s time to break the cycle.
