I absolutely love this analogy, shared by a client about how I support them individually.
Clients often tell me something really interesting:
The strategies we use work so well that they forget they ever didn’t know them.
That’s the beauty of what I do.
It’s not about teaching people to become someone else, it’s about helping them recognise, trust, and use the skills, strengths, and motivations they already have.
The other day, a client described their thoughts as a swarm of busy bumblebees.
Not dangerous. Actually quite lovely. But very buzzy… very busy… and there are a LOT of them.
That really stuck with me.
Because being an ADHD Coach and Specialist SpLD Teacher is a bit like being a beekeeper.
I come equipped with the full suit, the knowledge, the tools and the experience to work safely and effectively alongside that busy hive.
And then there’s the “Bee Smoker”.
That’s the strategies any experience I bring.
When the right strategies are introduced in the right way, for the right person, they don’t suppress anything, they simply calm the system.
The bees don’t disappear.
They just settle.
And suddenly, instead of everything buzzing around at once, there’s space…
There’s clarity…
Even room for a calm cup of tea.
That’s when people can actually think, decide, and move forward.
And that’s where real, lasting and empowering change happens! 🐝
