Yesterday was a hoot and a holler! Which is exactly what we knew we were signing up for when Robert Kabushenga invited us to his rugyeyofarm ✨In partnership with Cafe Africa Uganda and International Trade Centre (ITC), an immense amount of knowledge was imparted. ✨✨✨

There is no point at which you know it all, we certainly don’t. So to share this opportunity to learn, unlearn, and relearn was exceptional. And we know we keep banging on this drum but all of this truly comes down to the communities we tie ourselves to, growing together, encouraging each other as we all strive for fruitful harvests. We are friends in this together, which is why we are all happy to wake up at the crack of dawn to go visit and learn on Robert’s farm.

Our gratitude is immense, the joy we had is undeniable.

We’ve been quiet, we know. But we’ve been cooking… well, roasting. ☕️🔥 And it’s been paying off.

We’re incredibly proud to share that Sironko’s Sunrise, our roasted Arabica, has received a in the UK! 🏆🇬🇧🇺🇬 Guild of Fine Food

For a young company, whose journey into roasting is even younger… this means a LOT.

A little context: the 2026 Great Taste Awards saw 15,038 entries from 116 countries, representing more than 3,900 companies, and were judged by a panel of 500+ expert judges through blind tasting.

While the award carries international recognition, we know we didn’t get here alone.

Roasting our own coffee has been a whole new chapter for Dream Coffee. And one of the greatest privileges has been learning from the people who have been doing this long before us.

To the coffee veterans and mentors in Uganda and the UK who shared their knowledge, challenged our thinking, encouraged us through the doubts, and ultimately told us: submit the coffee! — thank you. ❤️

Sironko’s Sunrise is, in many ways, a reflection of that community.

A special thank you to International Trade Centre (ITC) for creating access to incredible mentorship, and to the particular cohort of people we met along that journey. 🙏🏾

And to our fellow Ugandan award winners this year — Robert Kabushenga , The Edge Trading Uganda and Mwanyi Terimba Limited — Uganda oyeee! 🇺🇬🔥

Sironko’s Sunrise — officially a Great Taste Award winning coffee! 🏆☕️

Now… we’re looking for retailers who want to help us get this coffee onto more shelves. If you’re a retailer, café, hotel, speciality food shop or know someone we should talk to — come find us! 🤓☕️

Reflection time:

Before we hit the in Madrid, we spent a few days in Geneva 🇨🇭 and it really gave us perspective!

While in Geneva, we received EUDR training from the — digging into what the next chapter of coffee trade into Europe will require.

It will demand new traceability systems, geolocation data, stronger due diligence. It will demand real change that, frankly, often feels overwhelming in the face of an already volatile market.

The brightest spot, however, was being in a group of friends who respect and uplift each other. It makes all the difference! 💪🏽 Learning together. Asking questions together. Preparing together.

Dream Coffee is grateful to be surrounded by a group of industry-peers-turned-real life friends who believe that supporting each other on this journey makes the whole industry stronger. ☕️🌍

What’s coming next is serious — but we’re not facing it alone! 🙏🏾💪🏽😮‍💨

If in Madrid has reminded us of one thing, it’s that coffee will always bring different cultures together. Spain is one of the largest consumers of Robusta coffee in the WORLD. Uganda is one of the largest Robusta producers in the WORLD.

In a match made in heaven, Dream Coffee and our Ugandan counterparts have been having fantastic and revealing conversations with buyers in the Spanish market about strengthening Uganda’s presence in every morning cup of coffee here.

So you heard it here first. Community is alive and well and we are strengthening our relationships here to make sure they outlive us 💗🙏🏾

ARE YOU READY?
We’re heading to Spain next month!
It’s no secret that we’re proud of our coffee, but we believe that to be the best, you have to be around the best. That’s why we’re super excited to be at the Madrid Coffee Fest this year!

Yes, of course, we’re looking to meet new clients and grow the Dream Coffee family (come say hi if you’re there!), but we’re also going with our “student hats” on.

There’s something so special about seeing Ugandan coffee sitting on a table next to world-class coffees from every other continent. It’s the ultimate reality check and a rich source of inspiration. We’re ready to see how our unique flavors hold their own on the global stage and bring all that fresh energy back to our work here at home.

Madrid, let’s goooooooo ☕️💪🏾

Reflection time: 🤩

First off, we a good cupping session must do TWO things: 1) get the tastebuds going ofc. And 2) Get opinions flowing! (Some of the more “divisive” coffee brought out strong opinions about co-ferments 😂)

delivered on BOTH when we met them last month 👏🏾👏🏾

But jokes and laughter aside, I left with a deep appreciation for the work Covoya does to keep everything as human as possible within this mammoth of an industry. Their dedication to making sure farmers are well taken care of - taking a risk here and there even if it means smaller margins! - resonated deeply with our heart here at Dream Coffee.

We’re keen to see the different ways Dream and Covoya can work together to bring more AMAZING Ugandan coffee to the EUK market, but that aside, cheers to meeting some great humans.
