AI isn’t replacing Virtual Assistants or Executive Assistants, i’s changing how we work.

The repetitive, time-consuming tasks that once filled our days can now be streamlined, automated, and completed more efficiently, giving us more time to focus on what really matters. It works really well for me.

✨ Strategic support
✨ Building strong client relationships
✨ Problem-solving
✨ Managing priorities
✨ Being a trusted partner to business leaders

The future of the VA and EA profession isn’t about competing with AI, learning how to use it effectively to enhance our skills and deliver even greater value.

Technology can handle the busywork, but human judgement, emotional intelligence, trust, and experience remain irreplaceable.

The most successful VAs and EAs won’t be those who avoid AI, they’ll be the ones who embrace it and use it to work smarter, not harder.

How are you using AI in your role?

Spotify recently celebrated its 20th anniversary by transforming its iconic logo into a disco ball. 🪩

It’s a simple change, but it caught people’s attention, because change always gets noticed. Change happens whether we like it or not! It also helps you grow as a person.

Whether it’s a logo refresh, a new system, a company restructure, or a shift in business direction, change can bring excitement for some and uncertainty for others. Even positive change can feel uncomfortable when it disrupts familiar routines.

In the workplace, change often creates questions:

What does this mean for me?
Will my workload change?
How will we do things differently?
What’s expected of me now?

As a Virtual Assistant I’m often working behind the scenes to help businesses navigate periods of change. That might mean:

Keeping communication organised and clear
Managing projects and deadlines during transitions
Creating structure when things feel uncertain
Helping teams stay focused on priorities
Taking administrative pressure off leaders so they can support their people

Change is rarely just about a new logo, process, or strategy. It’s about people adapting to something different. The smoother the support behind the scenes, the easier it is for everyone to move forward with confidence.

How do you cope with change at work? Do you embrace it, or prefer things to stay familiar?

Networking has been one of the most valuable ways I’ve grown my business.

Not because I walk into a room and come out with a new client every time, but because of the relationships built along the way.

Some of my best opportunities have come from conversations over a coffee, introductions from people I’ve met months earlier, and recommendations from those who have seen how I work.

As a business owner, it’s easy to focus on the day-to-day tasks, but stepping away from the laptop and meeting people face-to-face can be incredibly powerful.

People buy from people they know, like and trust!!

So whether it’s a networking event, a local business group, or reaching out for a coffee and a chat, don’t underestimate the value of making connections.

You never know where one conversation might lead.

You don’t grow by staying the same.
You grow by stepping into new waters, even when they feel completely out of your depth.

When I started my own business almost 5 years ago, I never imagined I’d be where I am now.
It’s hard graft. There are plenty of ups and downs. And there have definitely been moments where I’ve said to my husband, “I can’t make this work. I don’t like it. Maybe I should just go back to an employed office role.”

But digging deep, grit, determination, and the support of my husband, parents and family have got me through. I’m not sinking anymore, i’m swimming.

And those waters that once felt unfamiliar, are starting to feel like exactly where I’m meant to be. I’m more confident. I’m constantly trying to be a better version of myself.

Have you ever had a moment where you nearly gave up, but kept going?

No one told me this early in my career as an Executive Assistant, and I’ve never heard it from many execs, but it’s actually the truth.

An EA is a peer to your executive’s direct reports.
Not the support staff. Not the coordinator. An equal at the table.
This is one of those things no one teaches you, but it changes everything once you understand it. Have you ever sat around a boardroom table with the leadership team thinking this? I doubt it, you’re probably poised ready to oversee the drinks/lunch arriving on time, checking the drinks are hot/cold and typing minutes/actions whilst thinking what’s happening later that day, tomorrow and next week!

The way you walk into a meeting is different. The way you introduce yourself to the team changes. The way you speak up about a calendar conflict or a misaligned priority shifts. Not because anything about your role changed. Because how you see your role did.
The assistants who build trust the fastest are not the ones who keep their heads down and wait to be useful. They are the ones who show up to the team like they belong there. Because they do. They belong aside other peers at the leadership table.

If you are new to a role, or new to supporting a more senior executive, do not wait six months to start operating from that seat. Book the one-on-ones with the direct reports in your first two weeks. Not to introduce yourself, to understand the business, the team, and where your support is going to make the biggest difference.

That is not networking, it’s positioning where you should be.

And the assistants who do it from day one are the ones whose executives say, six months in, that they cannot imagine the team without them.

What is one moment that shifted how you saw your role in the organisation?

Invoices.. are they dragging you down?

I LOVE paperwork! If you’re getting bogged down with unnecessary admin (whether it’s Medical or business management) there’s nothing more satisfying than crossing it off a never ending to do list!

Outsource the work that does not serve you, and concentrate on the work that you love ❤️

New blog on my website:

How can a VA help your business and generate you money?

A great VA doesn’t just “take tasks off your plate” they create capacity for you to focus on the work that actually makes money.
Most business owners get stuck doing £15–£30/hour admin while neglecting the £500–£5,000 decisions that grow the business. That’s where I can come in!

How does a VA can directly help generate revenue and improve profitability? Well, he’s a few things we can do for you:

* Inbox and diary management, this frees up hours for sales calls, networking and strategy.

* Chasing invoices, which improves cash flow and reduces overdue payments.

* Social media and LinkedIn support, which will increase visibility and attracts opportunities.

* Project coordination, this keeps work moving so deals and launches don’t stall.

* Customer service/admin support. We can improve response times and reputation.

* Systems and process management, this is what can reduce costly mistakes and inefficiencies.

* Travel, logistics and scheduling, this saves executive time and mental load.

* Reporting and organisation. We can give clearer visibility on what’s working financially.

What do you get for your investment?

* More revenue-producing time.
* Faster operations.
* Better client experience.
* Higher retention.
* Less burnout for the business owner.

A strong VA becomes the backbone behind the business. They are the person keeping everything moving while the owner focuses on growth. This is teamwork!

A lot of people see a VA as a “cost”, however the best assistants are actually revenue enablers. If hiring one gives a founder back even 10 hours a week to focus on sales, partnerships or scaling, the return can be huge.

Give it a try!

Saturday mornings remind me that not everything has to be rushed. ☀️🐾
This morning was just me, Monty, the birds singing, and the sunshine making an appearance again. No meetings, no inboxes to manage, no constant notifications for a little while, just being present with nature and Monty (and his 🥎)

Working in EA/VA support means life feels “go, go, go” sometimes, always planning, organising and thinking three steps ahead for everyone else.
But I feel moments like this are important too. Slowing down, getting outside, clearing my head and resetting before another busy week begins.

Do you know when to pause from work? What do you do? Are you feeling too overwhelmed with work?
