As part of our ongoing efforts to reduce our carbon footprint, we're offsetting our emissions by supporting carbon-reduction projects, including our most recent selection: the Potrero Hydropower Project in Cajamarca, Peru. 🌊💡

The Potrero Hydropower Project has been generating clean energy since 2017 - by harnessing the Crisnejas River to generate renewable electricity, the project's 20 MW run-of-river plant supplies clean power to the National Interconnected Electricity System (SEIN), preventing nearly 100,000 tons of CO₂ emissions every year. 🌍️

This project also provides lasting benefits to the local communities, including:

☑️ Employment opportunities during construction and operation
☑️Training and technical knowledge transfer
☑️ Improved regional infrastructure and services linked to project activities
☑️ Economic contributions through taxes and local business demand
☑️ Contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 13 (Climate Action)

Our ESG Lead, Blair, and Head of Marketing, Sophie, are attending the East Midlands Sustainability and CSR Conference at the University of Derby today. 🌱

The timing couldn’t be better, following the recent release of our latest carbon footprint data and the progress we’ve made over the past year.

Blair and Sophie have been sharing some of the conversations happening throughout the day, from the challenges and opportunities shaping sustainable business and the journey to Net Zero, to how we can drive meaningful change within organisations. 💬

There have also been some interesting live polls, asking businesses how they’re approaching CSR, where it sits within their wider strategy and how they expect things to evolve over the next year.

Days like today are a great opportunity for us to keep learning, innovating and identifying where we can make further progress. 🌎️

Our latest FY24/25 carbon footprint assessment shows a 26% year-on-year reduction in reported greenhouse gas emissions. 🌍️

While this reduction reflects improvements in data quality and more accurate calculation methodologies, it also gives us a far clearer understanding of our environmental impact and where we can make the biggest difference. 📉

By moving from spend-based estimates to more accurate activity-based analysis, we’re improving our understanding of where our biggest impacts lie, and focusing our efforts where they will have the greatest impact on our journey to Net Zero.

We’re committed to delivering on our climate goals:

✅️Verified carbon neutral by 2028
✅️Net Zero Scope 1 and 2 by 2030
✅️Net Zero Scope 1, 2 and 3 by 2050
