3 Tips I Swear By As An Infant Sleep Consultant
1️⃣ Environment is key. Too warm, too bright, or too quiet and you’re already working against yourself. Aim for 16–20°C, blackout blinds, and white noise running consistently through the night.
2️⃣ Consistent bedtime routine. Same steps, same order, every single night. Bath, PJs, book, cuddle. Keep it to 20–40 minutes and bring the energy right down before you even go near the cot.
3️⃣ How they fall asleep matters as much as when. The bit that most people miss. If they’re being rocked or fed to sleep, they’ll need the same thing every time they surface between cycles. Putting them down awake, and gradually reducing those associations, is what builds the skill to resettle independently.
