🥃 WHISKY WEDNESDAY 🥃

This week we’re revisiting another bottle from our August Whisky Mixer - and this one was a bit of a star on the night…

Pittyvaich Flora & Fauna 12 Year Old.

What makes this dram particularly interesting is the story behind it. Pittyvaich was a Speyside distillery with a surprisingly short life, operating for just 18 years before closing in 1993. The site was eventually demolished, making bottles like this a little snapshot of a distillery that simply doesn’t exist anymore.

Originally built as something of a “workhorse”, producing malt predominantly for blends, the Flora & Fauna 12 Year Old became the only standard single malt bottling released from Pittyvaich during its lifetime. So when we say this was an interesting one to have around the Whisky Mixer table, we mean it! 🥃

👃 The nose: Full and smooth, with subtle fruit and malt and a gentle oiliness.

🥃 The taste: Sweetness meets a drier, nuttier character, with dark chocolate and deep espresso notes coming through.

🔥 The finish: Long, full-bodied and lingering.

And clearly it did something right, because this was the fan favourite amongst our whisky drinkers at August’s meeting! 👏

A lost distillery, a rare bottle and exactly the sort of whisky that gives us plenty to talk about.

Not your average Wednesday night dram… 🥃

🥃 WHISKY WEDNESDAY 🥃

This week we’re taking another look at one of the drams from our latest Whisky Mixer… the Tamdhu 12 Year Old Speyside Single Malt.

And a special mention has to go to Julia Jarrett, who stepped up to give us the all-important introduction to this one on the night - and what a fine job she did! 👏🥃

This 12-year-old Speyside is all about sherry. Matured entirely in Oloroso sherry casks, it’s rich, warming and packed with flavour.

👃 On the nose, think cinnamon, orange, raisins and fresh oak, with a little hint of mint hiding in there too.

🥃 Take a sip and you’ll find banana, berry jam and sweet malt biscuit, followed by those deeper, richer sherry flavours.

🔥 And to finish? Warm spice, dried fruit and the slightest hint of smoke that hangs around nicely after the last sip.

One bottle, plenty to talk about… which is exactly what Whisky Mixer is all about. 🥃🤝

🥃 August’s Whisky Mixer… another brilliant night in the books!

We welcomed plenty of guests and subs this month, who all seemed to leave with three things: new connections, new opportunities and perhaps a little more whisky in them than when they arrived… 😂🥃

For the whisky drinkers, the Pittyvaich Flora & Fauna 12 Year Old was the clear fan favourite of the evening. 👏

And for those who came for the networking rather than the whisky? The Royal Brackla 19 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish was declared the most tolerable dram of the night… we’ll take that as a win! 😂

Because that’s the whole point of Whisky Mixer - you don’t need to love whisky to build great connections. You just need to come along, get involved and enjoy the room.

Great people, plenty of business being passed and an atmosphere that gets better every month.
