You need space to think, support to grow, and the courage to back yourself. Stop settling and start leading your next chapter.

A lot of high-performing senior leaders stay stuck for far longer than they need to.

Not because they’re incapable of change.
Because they’re responsible. Thoughtful. Successful. Sensible.

They’ve built lives around the version of success they once wanted.

But eventually there comes a point where achievement is no longer the question.
Meaning, energy and direction start mattering more.

That can feel incredibly confusing when your career still looks “good” from the outside.

You do not need to have everything figured out overnight.
But you do deserve to pay attention to what you’re feeling instead of endlessly overriding it.

That’s often where change begins.

I nearly didn’t get on the bike.

All week I’d been putting it off.
Too busy. Too tired. Too many other things to do.

Then I did it anyway.

The dog tried to lick the wheel.
The boys came in laughing.
But then they stayed… and cheered me on.

And when I got off, I felt completely different. Lighter. Clearer. More like myself again.

It wasn’t a big, life-changing move.
It was one small decision.

But those are the ones that can have real impact and change everything.

So - what’s the one thing you’ve been putting off?
The small thing you know would make a difference?

Do that.

Just come off a call with a client who’s taking meaningful steps towards something different.

Not a frantic exit.
Not walking away from everything.

But testing, shaping and starting to build what comes next - using the environment they’re already in, knowing it will have real impact there.

It’s easy to underestimate these moments.

But this is where change actually begins.
When it stops being an idea… and starts becoming real. When you can see the choice to back yourself is paying off.

Follow along with me - Day 6 of building my coaching & Instagram business.

Today’s update… there isn’t one.

Because I didn’t change my career just to recreate the same 50-hour weeks.

So I took the day off. Properly. No guilt. No pretending to be productive.

This is part of it too.

See you tomorrow 👋

Day 4 (or 5… who’s counting?) of building this coaching business and actually showing you what it looks like behind the scenes 👀

Coffee first - as always.
Beach walk with the dog (husband busy on his phone working, classic, but also used to be me doing that!!).
Half the washing done… the other half still judging me from the basket (I hate the socks part).

Then into it:
→ Tweaked my LinkedIn
→ Built a proposal for an organisational client
→ Created onboarding for new clients starting next week
→ Updated a case study from past consulting work

And then… I stopped.
Because building something real isn’t about doing everything. It’s about doing enough - consistently.

Pizza for dinner. Back again tomorrow 🍕

You’re not confused.
You’re overriding yourself.

I’ve had the same conversation five times this week with people who feel stressed, stuck or unhappy in their work…

But the real issue isn’t the situation.

It’s what they’re telling themselves about it.

“That’s just how it is.”
“I shouldn’t feel like this.”
“Other people have it worse.”
“Maybe it’s just me.”

So instead of listening to what’s going on underneath…
they question it.
They minimise it.
They push it down.

And that’s what keeps them stuck.

Because when you don’t trust your own experience,
you lose your ability to respond to it.

Giving yourself permission doesn’t mean you have to change everything overnight.

It just means this:

You stop arguing with what you already know.

And from there… you get to decide what happens next.

Day 4 of building my coaching business… and tonight’s update includes with a co-host at bedtime 🛏️

It’s been a full on day - coaching conversations, brilliant interactions and a really stretching session inside Jo’s Business of Coaching call.

We were pushed (in a good way) to get sharper on who we actually help.

And for me it reinforced that I don’t just "help people with their careers.”

I help high earners who feel financially trapped and burned out in jobs they’ve outgrown, get out and make a clear move into something new.

The ones who’ve done everything right and are now wondering, is this it?

That’s the work I care about.
That’s where I’m at my best.

Let’s see where Day 5 takes us.

20/04/2026

Day 3 of building my coaching business.

No big breakthroughs today - just a normal day of showing up and doing the work.

Coffee (and a hot cross bun).
A very short “commute”.
10 before 10 on LinkedIn - staying visible, staying connected.
Time outside in the sunshine (with a dog who has strong opinions about leads).
Back to work - learning, building, coaching.

I’ve been working through Business of Coaching programme, and honestly, it’s been one of the most useful things I’ve done to actually understand how to build this properly - not just coach, but grow a business around it.

Finished the day with coaching calls, prep for supervision (which matters more than people realise), and trying to stay on top of everything I’m learning.

It’s not glamorous.
But it’s real.

And this is what it looks like to build something steadily, alongside everything else.

Twice in one week - who even am I? Great to be in town this week meeting business partners, clients and new connections 😊. Looking forward to a quiet weekend now but will be back again next week. It's good to connect with other humans and explore new places - very grateful for the work I get to do 🙏

It’s easy to spend quiet moments worrying about what you haven’t done yet.

What still feels unclear.
What you haven’t quite worked out.
What might need to change.

But it’s worth remembering how much you already have to work with.

The experience you’ve built.
The judgement you’ve learned.
The things you’ve navigated that once felt impossible.

None of that disappears just because you’re asking new questions now.

If anything, it’s exactly what gives you more choice than you realise.

You don’t need to prove yourself again.
You don’t need to start from scratch.

The question now is how you make use of what you’ve already built, in a way that fits who you are today.
