Leader vs. “Boss”: The Difference That Matters

Too many workplaces suffer because people confuse authority with leadership. A job title doesn’t make you a leader — how you treat people does.

Here’s the difference:

A “Boss”:
• Demands respect but doesn’t earn it
• Tells people what to do without explanation
• Uses fear or pressure to get results
• Takes credit when things go well
• Blames others when things go wrong

A Leader:
• Earns respect by example and consistency
• Explains the “why” behind the work
• Builds trust, not fear

Here’s what to avoid 👇



❌ 1. Job Descriptions, Not Achievements
Most CVs just list duties. That’s not what gets you hired.
✅ Instead: Highlight impact. “Trained 4 new starters” > “Responsible for training.”



❌ 2. One-Size-Fits-All
